Clifty Farm Country Meats — Local services in Paris

I'm an old southern boy that was born and raised in Virginia and grew up eating VA country hams. I've enjoy many Edwards, R.M. Felts and other major VA country ham produced hams in my long life. I found a Clifty Farms ham on sale at a local grocery here in NC and figured I'd give it a try. Many of my relatives are from TN so I was hopeful of a positive result. This past weekend I soaked the ham for 24 hours changing the water twice. The ham was then cooked submersed in 210 degree water (not boiling) until the center was 160 degrees. I let the ham cool for 60 minutes then dug in (sliced). Wow, yum! Just let me tell you, the ham was tastier and juicier than any other ham, including the VA hams, I've ever eaten. I'll definitely buy another Clifty Farm country ham. I can't speak to their other products since I haven't tried them. Your mileage may...

I need to say that the flavor and quality of the biscuit cuts were very flavorful and well trimmed. The problem I have is that I ordered 2 pounds that were delivered promptly mid September 2020. The best use by date is October 2, 2020. I find it disappointing that after spending $23.50 per pound I would receive country ham almost after the expiration date!!

I have ordered Rays country ham through Amazon and have always had a long lead use time. This experience was very disappointing I didn't expect to be delivered their end of the run date.

I have been a long time fan of their country ham. I actually have some in my refrigerator as I write this review. My problem is their "so called" bacon. I ordered a box of ham, sausage and bacon recently and when I opened a package of their bacon it had a "putrid" smell unlike any bacon I have ever tried. I went ahead and cooked it anyway and it smelled and tasted as nasty cooked as raw. I called Clifty about the problem and received an apology and they immediately sent me 4 new packages as a replacement. It was as putrid as the original and immediately went into the trash. I don't understand how they can produce such great hams and such awful bacon. Save your money and don't make the same...
