I called a scheduled appointment for a blonde balayage and haircut. I was quoted around $168 to start. My hair had problems I admit, I came in with a strawberry blonde hair color, splotches in a few places that were not fully removed from (bleach and ammonia free) color lift I did 2 months prior and natural root regrowth. I agreed to go along with the plan and the $329 cost because I thought that was reasonable for the number of things she would be doing. The major problem was that my partial blonde balayage was grey when I turned around and the brown color, she was way darker than expected. I was shocked and was polite to my stylist when she asked if I liked it, I said yeah, I mean I'm guessing the grey color will hopefully wash out due to the hard water I have at home. I was hopeful that with some time, the grey color would just go away, so I tried not to react right away. When I got home, I bawled my eyes out, I couldn't believe I got talked into $329 and came home with grey streaks of hair and red brown roots. I called the next morning and asked for the stylist to try again because my hair was grey, I didn't like it, and it was way too much money to not be happy with it. Eryn said she would talk to her manager and let me know. She got off the phone and the manger, Janet, called me back maybe an hour and a half later. She told me that Eryn told her I didn't bring in a reference photo, which I did. She called me a gas lighter and told me to look it up. I was astonished by the way she spoke to me. I remained as calm as I could because all I wanted was for this "$329" hair to be somewhat better. I asked if she could just add in a few more areas of brighter blonde to help get it closer to what I wanted. Janet said she refused to put blonde in my hair because, in her opinion, it was too damaged, and she wouldn't risk my hair falling out. I told I didn't think my hair would because it's only had two things done to it in the last 2 years. I told her I didn't really have the $329 to do my hair this way but that I trusted them to give me blonde amidst the brown they said they had to do, BUT IT WAS GREY!! I asked if she wouldn't fix it if she would at least do a partial refund of the extra money, I originally didn't plan on spending there for something like this. She told me it was my choice to spend that much money and it's not her problem what my financial situation was. She said she had mouths to feed, and so did her stylist. I asked if she'd be willing to fix my hair in several weeks after my hair had time to rest. She said that I would never be able to do blonde in my hair unless I waited 4 to 5 years for it to grow out natural. I asked what she was willing to do if she's not willing to do blonde. She told me she could do darker, tone it again, or tone it more gold. None of this is what I wanted, and she knew that. I asked if she could just fix the grey color in my hair. She said if I could be at her store in 30 minutes and that she didn't have time to take me any other time. I got myself and my son in the car and drove to get from Willmar to New London in under 30 mins in hopes that she'd see my hair, get a look at it, and to be kind enough to admit it was really bad color wise. She looked at my grey hair and said it wasn't grey. She asked me what I washed my hair with that morning, and I said my Nexxus shampoo. She said that's why my hair is grey because of the shampoo I used and that I shouldn't have washed it for at least 3 days after the color. Janet eventually put a toner in my hair and washed it, but my hair still looks awful, and she still pocketed all that money. If you go to this Salon know that the owner nor her stylist, take accountability for their actions, nor will they try to remedy the situation, be empathetic whatsoever, and will try to blame you or "A.I. pictures of hair colors that aren't real. " Blonde is a real color. Grey is not acceptable, nor was any of the behavior these...
Read moreCan’t say enough positive things about my experience with abode particularly in regards to their services for me and my bridesmaids on my wedding day. My look was a little high maintenance with beach waves and baby’s breath and I was just so impressed by the talent here. Janet did my styling and took everything in stride because she really can do anything and nail it. I could never be in the high-stakes world of wedding day styling but Janet, Trish and Sadie all made it seem like we shouldn’t have a care in the world. Thank you Abode Salon. I just watched the video of my ceremony today and just smile seeing the glow we all had because of how great we all looked (and apparently we knew it too!) Thanks also for being open and communicative and flexible and cooperative with some details regarding brunch, mom staying calm (super important) and letting dad hang out outside waiting to do his first look with his first born. It was truly a beautiful start to a...
Read moreI have been seeing Jenny since she started at Abode Salon. She is a great stylist. She is always very professional, easy to talk to, and has a bubbly personality. She always has a smile on her face. She has been great over the years always working to achieve my inspo pictures. I have always been a brunette and recently have wanted more dimension. She started slow with adding dimension so it wouldn’t be too much for my liking. She is honest with you and is open to constructive feedback. She is very knowledgeable about the products she uses at the salon and is great at giving recommendations on what products are best for my hair type. Below are some photos of my before and after from my last visit!
