Firstly, the only service you provided was towing my car. In return, you charged me $312 for a single phone call, which you justified by comparing it to a lawyer's or doctor's hourly fee. You cannot compare your services to those of a doctor or lawyer, reputable professionals are transparent about their fees from the outset. When I decided to handle the situation myself, you suddenly presented this $479.00 charge. It's clear you intended to take advantage, and I won't support dishonest business practices.
Furthermore, during our conversation, when I informed you of my decision to go in a different direction, you became rude and dismissive, even suggesting that I was wasting your time. As a business owner, speaking to customers disrespectfully is unprofessional. I remained civil and was prepared to pay $479, including the $312 phone fee, which was clearly an excessive charge imposed out of spite.
You keep claiming that my warranty company is "sorry," but that’s just an excuse. My car is now at a different shop, and they haven't experienced any of the issues with the warranty company that you described. I never said I was having trouble with the warranty company; I simply mentioned that they were moving slowly. Don’t try to justify your unprofessionalism by twisting my words. It’s clear you thought you could take advantage of me, especially since I wasn’t there in person.
You claimed to have provided an itemized list of expenses, yet what I received was different from what you sent to the warranty company. When I asked for clarification, you mentioned the sales tax and oil fees as the only denials, which does not account for the $1,236 discrepancy. I have no issue continuing this discussion, as I intend to share my experience publicly.
Additionally, the car had already been diagnosed, and you knew it was a transmission issue. I understand that you needed to conduct your own diagnostic test, but beyond that, what additional work did you do on the car? You continually mentioned the "favors" you did for me, yet I paid $479 for services, with $312 attributed to a phone call alone—these were not favors.
How dare you call me incompetent simply because I saw through your hustle. It’s incompetent on your part to claim that $1,236 is for sales tax and oil when the warranty confirmed the state of Ks does not charge sales tax, and that $312 covers a three-hour which you originally told me now in your response it's(now five and a half hour) phone call. You were the one who specified that only sales tax and oil weren’t covered by the warranty. It’s unprofessional for a business to insult a customer just because they chose another provider. The public can now see how condescending and rude you became when you realized you wouldn’t be able to take advantage of me.
I'm disappointed by your response to my review, especially the accusation of incompetence. I voiced my experience as a customer, to share my honest feedback about the service I received and the amount's in question. I believe every customer deserves transparency, respect, and fair treatment. My review reflects my personal experience and concern regarding the charges and services provided. Resorting to name-calling reflects on your character as a professional.
You keep mentioning that you towed my car for free, which is interesting since you advertise free towing on your Facebook page. This only reinforces my concerns about your business practices. Additionally, after speaking with the warranty company, I confirmed that the diagnostic test fee was already included in the overall estimate. As a result, you charged me $479.00 after I decided that your shop was not credible or operating with integrity.
As for accountability, you accused me of being rude on the phone,I was not rude yet your tone changed once I decided to move my car. Perhaps it’s time for you to take responsibility. As I mentioned before, I have no problem continuing this conversation publicly....
Read moreI am writing to formally complain about the unfair and unprofessional treatment I experienced at Farmers Repair Inc in Whitewater Kansas regarding repairs on my vehicle, which were supposed to be covered under my extended warranty. The mechanic Trent charged me $312.50 for "being on the phone with the warranty company for 3 hours," which is unreasonable and unjustified. He could not clearly explain what the warranty would not cover other than the oil and sales tax, and simply stated that I had a "sorry warranty" and needed to "take ownership" for choosing it. This behavior was unprofessional and condescending.
I was shocked when the business charged me $479.00, $125.00 for a diagnostic test and $312.00 for a phone call to the warranty insurance company, the experience was frustrating and was an attempt to take advantage of me as a woman and customer. The $125.00 diagnostic test was an appropriate charge.
Furthermore, he refused to release my car until I paid the full amount of $479.00 The warranty company confirmed they were paying out the maximum amount the mechanic requested—5,379.00—except for the transmission oil, which was not covered. Yet, the mechanic still demanded additional payment from me of $1236,00, without transparency or proper justification, he stated the warranty company would not pay for the transmission oil and sales tax as well as other parts, however he never told me any other parts they would not cover in addition to the ones stated above. The warranty company advised as well as the dealership Kansas has no sales tax and the oil would not cost 1,236.00 he was asking out of pocket . Trent continued to tell me he did not charge me for the Tow but charged me $312.00 for a phone call.
This entire experience has left me deeply disappointed, and I will never return to this mechanic shop for any future business. I would strongly advise others to avoid this...
Read moreSo they rebuilt the transmission my 2000 dodge, a nv5600 Trans and I was quite happy with it. At approximately 55,000 miles the 5th/6th gear started getting rough so I took it to them to repair, I will note that the factory Trans had 0ver 180,000 before the first rebuild. It took 4 weeks to get it back but every thing seemed to be fine and yes I did pay full price for this repair as well and the truck was in limp mode when I picked it up, I had to fix that. After having the truck back for all most 2 months this happend,Thursday morning the clutch began to slip under acceleration, knowing the clutch had over 100,000 miles on it I assumed it was shot. Also knowing farmers repair was closed on Friday I found a local shop who said they could take care of it. A clutch would not have been warranty work and so I saw no issues with taking it somewhere else. When the shop got the tranny out they called to tell me the clutch was wet with Trans fluid, it was leaking, this is what caused the slip, this is a warranty issue. I returned the tranny to farmers and after inspection found that they had installed the wrong front seal. They replaced it an told me I could pick it up. The oil in the tranny spilled when I brought it to them but Steve told me that was how they preferred it to do a test to confirm the leak. Now he won't put oil back in it, he said he didn't take it out, never mind what leaked out by their mistake. It is an expensive oil. I'm not surprised but he also refused to help with the clutch replacement or any parts. Notice I said help. I don't expect him to pay for it all. Needless to say I am not happy and he refused to make it right short of me bringing him more work, then he said he could help me out. Why would I bring more work to someone who can't make things right this time. My recommendation is to stay away from farmers...
