Peabody Market — Local services in Peabody

Meat is fresh and delicious, best German sausage around. I live in the Flint Hills east of El Dorado and drive over an hour to this store for massive bundles of sausage. Made the mistake of giving sausage out for Christmas presents one year at work....now everybody wants to place an order for more.

As a side note, I was 5 when we moved to Peabody in 1980. My grandmother owned the Downtowner bar at the south west corner of main st, aunt and uncle owned the furniture store, more relatives lived just outside of town. Everyone knew everyone, looked out for each other's kids, etc. Peabody, at that time, was an awesome place to grow up in. Many of my fondest memories were of going to the grocery store and hitting up the penny gumball machine or eating the accumulated ice in the open freezer by the meat...

I need this store!! It is the only grocery store for miles around! I am so glad that it has new owners. This store is a convenience for many people. I LOVE the hours. Staying open till 8pm is very important. Being open til 6pm on weekends is beneficial if you are entertaining, and if you need ICE on summer weekends. The managers may need more 'grocery' training, as I really have to watch the expiration dates on everything that I buy. The store may benefit from a few employee meetings, as the produce needs checked and rotated as well. The Meat department is the greatest, however. Employees that are sick handle food and have personally seen employees not washing hands. Would highly suggest not shopping here as prices are much much higher than any other place. For example, a bottle of Excedrin migraine which I take cost $17 here compare to $8 or 9 at Walmart. Bottom line the store is only concerned about what goes into the pocket not the proper operation of running. Highly recommend not shopping here and going some place else to...
