We were in the area and decided to check out the Saturday night races at Senoia. We were NOT disappointed. This is a fun old fashioned dirt track (or actually gumbo as they proudly proclaim) that appears to be well managed. The race announcers were great all night keeping us casual fans updated as to the type of cars that we were seeing, their capabilities, and some info on the various drivers. The racing itself was hot. Winged sprint cars and late models. Lots of 2 and 3 wide racing, efficient job on track maintenance, cautions, restarts, etc. We watched a 15 year old kid come from third to first on the last lap of the sprint cars race in one of the most exciting finishes you'll ever see. Folks were friendly, food was good. TIP if you aren't local - bring chairs!! No one sits on the concrete bleachers, instead they set up chairs on the bleachers. Two old boys were using boat seats so I guess any kind of chair will do - but 95% of the people had the cloth folding chairs. Read moreI wish they were open every weekend for races.. they seem to have more races scheduled this year than last. Consessions need to be more aware of the amount of fans waiting in line for food. I asked if I could pay and wait and the man behind counter said no. So I had to leave the line. Thought that was pretty bad customer service as they should have been cooking as sold. Not tell a paying customer they couldn't get ANY food. Believe me I asked what they had available.. chips and drinks.. thats it. Menu had burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, corndogs etc. But nothing available. $30 to get in and no food and this was about 1/2 way...
