I am giving two stars instead of one star because these guys are usually nice, but they are just not good at aligning cars.
I have been to them three times recently and had three alignments completed. All three times were sub par but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Well the third time was the last strike. I'll be going to a dedicated (slightly more expensive) alignment shop.
Now the 40 dollar alignment may be great if you are a college student, eating ramen noodles three times a week, and drive a 20 year old car to class. Please do not take a $50,000 car to this shop.
Let me explain how an alignment works. The mechanic will plug your make, model, year into his computer and it will give him the alignment specifications or the range of acceptable tolerances in which your car can be set as determined by the manufacturer. Really good alignment shops will make sure these alignment tolerances are close to each other and set in such a way to ensure optimum performance. I can assure you Ed Allgoods is just "putting it in spec" as quickly as possible and your true alignment may be all over the place. Don't believe me... ask for the printout of the settings when they are done, you'll be surprised how one camber angle may be a positive number and the other camber angle is a negative number (these should be the same unless you are in NASCAR). The truth is when you change one setting, another alignment may move a little when you tighten the wrench and thus it needs to be reset etc. The truth is this takes more than 10 minutes when done right. Moving on...
I saw the mechanic jump in the driver seat for about 3 seconds to align the steering wheel with the tires. I was thinking "wow he must really be good." Well the reality was he just didn't care. The steering wheel was about 10-15 degrees to the left. In other words, in order to maintain a straight line, I must turn my wheel a few inches to the left side. If I hold my wheel straight I'm going in the ditch.
Finally... As I was literally pulling out of the driveway of Ed Allgoods, I hear a bang and I think it is a piece of gravel that slung off my tire. Then I hear another bang on the interstate the next day and I realize what it is... wheel weights. I've slung wheel weights off the rims because they were not properly applied. I looked at how they were just stuck on a dirty rim with a gob of runny goo. "adhesion is only as good as the surface you are sticking it to" come on guys...
Also this used to be the place to save a little on a set of brand new tires (around 2012 - 2013 I remember). Now recently they will quote you about the same price as everyone else except you will have never heard of the brand name. "yea I can get a set of huto-kuto-moto's for...
Read moreI do not recommend this shop, especially if you have a foreign car. I was treated disrespectfully and was ripped off. Went from being friendly to disrespectful. I would not write this if it was not true. I take reviews VERY seriously and don't want anyone being in my shoes. I was very disappointed though I was recommended to this establishment from many people. Customer service is definitely disappointing as well. It's funny when you can diagnose your own vehicle and tell them what's the issue is, and they were surprised. Knowledge of cars is "NO" for me, but as for tires, I just pray there installing them correctly. Regardless, be careful where you take your car to next being ripped off is a "NO-GO" for me PERIOD!!! I'm a single farther, and safety is VERY important to me. From going from putting the wrong oil in your car then having to wait even longer for a simple oil change (though I did not get an apology for my time wasted a credit of some kind which should have been done but no did I get anything NO) now car won't start asked can they diagnose the issue they agreed to tow my car to there shop and did not discuss a towing fee at all. They kept my car for almost 2 days and did absolutely nothing. I figured out the issue was, and they were shocked. I found out what the problem was. Like I can't make this up. I had to have the car towed back home (Mind you I asked if they could tow my car back, and they wanted to charge me $200 to tow it back. I asked how do you charge me but a charge was NEVER SPOKEN OF.) If I knew there was a charge I would have kept my car home and have my insurance tow it to a shope that will treat you with RESPECT and not RIP YOU OFF.....Its funny how the owner still has not apologized and yet faild to inform me that he was going to charge. At the end of the day the owner is mad i know more about cars then he does. Would be surprised what i can do if i had a shop, would make you look like...
Read moreI called the day before and inquired on getting them to change a broken stud. I have shopped here and done a lot of business here for years. When I arrived I was number 3. I got there at 9:30 knowing they open at 10:00 so I could be early and hopefully in and out. After sitting there until 12:15 my husband went and talked with the mechanics. He said that the lady up front came and got our ticket stating we called her and said we were leaving and would be back later. They have cameras ALL over that place and she knew EXACTLY what kind of car I was driving because she wrote that information down and could have looked and seen my car stayed parked in the same place the whole time. After speaking with the mechanic he said they were already on number 10 and that he would gladly go ahead and change that for me since we have been waiting since 9:30. I walked inside the store and spoke with the woman and all she said was " I DONT KNOW' and thought you were someone else. She proceeded to place blame on the mechanic she said they should have known... She didn't apologize until after they were already working on my car and it was done. She was very RUDE and unprofessional. The mechanic on hand was AMAZING. He apologized for her not paying attention and offered to do they job a lot cheaper that they usually charge. I paid the mechanic what he usually would charge because I'm not out for special treatment. He was very nice and said from now on if i do ever come back just come ask them about it FIRST before talking with them. She was AWFUL and rude!!!!!!! Thanks to the guys who worked very hard on my car and got it done. I pulled out of All goods at 2:05. It was not their fault it was hers. I will do my business elsewhere from now on. You lost a very good customer today because of the way you acted and...
