I was slowly matriculating North with no set timetable to dictate my journey home. So I was stopping alot up til this reat area that I had occasion to nap in quite a few times in past employment. It was getting a little windy and I was for lack of a better ter, getting white line fever. So I checked my email and messages and 30 minutes later got out of the car to get the blood circulation going. After which I was not able to sleep with a constant stream of cars and I was mesmerized by the zany goings on that probably wouldn't surprise really anybody for the hour of night early morning it was. Because of the public nature of these reviews, I will omit the actual Shenanigans. The bathroom was not even close to the vision i perceived with the constant flow of travelers and truckers etc. There was some remodel or makeover in progress. And the biggest positive is safety. You can lock ur doirs and get the required number of hours sleep and not worry about being victimized as long as you use common sense and travelers caution. After couple hours I was not able to sleep and no more excitement, I was headed to Hershey and the Truck stop there. Read moreOne man was cleaning the Women’s Restrooms and had it closed “because there was no woman to clean it” with the single commode family as the only option. At the same time another man was cleaning the men’s restroom as men came and went and a third man, who appeared to be a “supervisor” walked around like he was busy but not actually doing any work. As the line of anxious women stacked up… the one man cleaning the women’s room makes a smart ass comment about everyone wanting clean bathrooms but they are not willing to wait as he continues, even vacuuming outside the woman’s bathroom door without opening it back up in front of this line of women! We appreciate the clean bathrooms but if you have no better alternative then all hands on deck to get it back open ASAP!!! Several of us would have cleaned the damn toilet ourselves if we could have used it...
Read moreI stopped at the Cumberland rest area and was pleased to find the facilities clean and well-maintained. The restrooms were spotless, and the area was tidy. However, there's a significant design flaw with the toilet flush system. Be prepared to get splashed! The flush mechanism sprays water outward, soaking anyone standing nearby. It's essential to keep a safe distance and make a quick exit to avoid getting drenched.
While the rest area excels in cleanliness, the toilet design needs urgent attention. I hope the management will address this issue to ensure a more comfortable experience for travelers.
Pros: Clean facilities, well-maintained rest area Cons: Poor toilet flush design
Recommendation: Fix the toilet flush issue, and this rest area will become a...
