The Grist House Beer Crib is more than just another taproom. Much more. It’s literally a place “where everybody knows your name.” It’s a place where friendships are made and where friends continue to gather. I can always count on someone I know being there at the bar, or having a meal, or throwing some disc golf out back. My man Scott is always ready with a beer for me as soon as I walk in. Speaking of Scott, he’s a bartender like no other. Always attentive, always suggesting a new style to try and always good conversation. The rest of the crew is amazing as well and always happy to see you. The kitchen is run by Freedom Farms and everything on the menu is worth trying at least once. They are also dog-friendly, which is always a plus for me and my faithful hound, Bailey. Funny…I haven’t even mentioned the beer yet. If you’re at all familiar with “Grist”, as us locals call it, then you already know they have some of THE BEST liquid in western Pennsylvania. I highly recommend Hazedelic Juice Grenade, Space Cactus, Molecular Effect…any of their NEIPAs really. If you’re more into fruited sours or light lagers, they have a phenomenal, rotating selection of those as well. Come join me sometime! I’ll buy you a beer if you...

The beer and atmosphere are great! Very family friendly, if that's your vibe. The food was beyond disappointing though. We got chicken tenders and a side of fries. First, the $10 basket of fries was massive, so we both agreed that the $5 option should be fine. No. We maybe got 10 fries total, all in tiny pieces - it looks like they ran out of potatoes. The tenders looked amazing and are kept in a heater, so we couldn't understand why they arrived cold 🤷 Additionally, our food took 40 minutes - a miniscule amount of fries and pre-cooked chicken. For the life of me, I don't understand what happened. I even went up to the counter and asked if these were the $5 side, and the chef acknowledged it was. Oh well, you can't win them all. The beer is...

Cocky barkeep. Bad distribution of beer choices.

If you like sours you have a choice of 4. If you want say some more sessionable beers, good luck, they had one European lager one the menu, this was quite tasty. The rest of the non sours were high ABV IPAs which are fine too at the right time but, really!

When commenting on this disparity to the bar lad he copped an attitude and got lippy instead of saying something like I'll pass that one to the...

We decided to stop here and get a bite to eat and enjoy some bears after having fun at the next door disc golf putter course. They do not have a lot of selection on bears and they do not do flights. It didn’t matter, but would have been nicer with more selection and if they did flights. Ended up trying two of the beers there and ended up grabbing the other ones in four packs to go home with. The beer was definitely top notch! Would recommend.

Well grist house beer is always awesome but I was blown away by the food from Freedom Farm. Wow! Nashville hot chicken, fries, fried pickles. Yah man. I took soups and artichoke dips to go for dinner tomorrow. There is not a table server, but the staff and bartender were just super nice.
