Great, positive learning atmosphere! I know I made the right choice in High Flight with my career goals. I started here a little over a week ago after a long break from flying. With my prior experience comparatively, the High Gear program is perfect for the student who is motivated to learn and wants to do so at a forward moving pace towards their career goals without feeling overwhelming. The High Gear program is immersive and comprehensive in just the right ways if you want to become a professional pilot. It’s truly unique for the western PA area in its style in the best possible way. The instructors and staff are wonderful, couldn’t ask for better, and the curriculum is thorough and teaches you what you need to know to be a successful, safe, and proficient pilot. If you want to fly, I would recommend this place and the professional program to anyone. This place...
Read moreI received the 1.5 hour discovery flight as a gift. I called and scheduled without any issue. The aircraft we flew was a Cessna 172. My instructor pilot was professional and did a preflight check, explaining what to do and why it’s done. We climbed out of the airport and leveled at 3k feet and then handed over the controls. I flew the aircraft for pretty much the whole time until we got to the pattern to land. The instructor was very helpful and friendly and did a good job talking me through the instruments and controls. It was pretty windy and we were bouncing all over, but it was still fun. I learned that even in a Cessna the workload is busy scanning all around and checking instruments constantly. I really enjoyed the experience. If you are thinking about it, it’s absolutely worth the cost....
Read moreMy friend and I took a discovery flight here, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our instructor, Hayley Stein, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and enthusiastic. She walked us through the pre-flight inspection, explained the aircraft controls and basics, and created a safe, supportive environment to actually maneuver the plane. Truly a 10/10 experience—highly recommend!
Beginner tip: If it’s your very first flight in a Cessna sized aircraft, avoid eating for a couple of hours beforehand, and have a ginger ale or ginger beer (both non-alcoholic) handy to help with...
