I’ve been attending racing events at Selinsgrove Speedway for more than 40 years and have seen this historic facility through the highs and lows of the sport, ultimately a business subject to the volatility of fickle fans, the weather, economic conditions and the sheer will and financial resources of the track management. This place has struggled at times over the past decade or so to keep up with its counterparts scattered around the country and densely clustered in Pennsylvania. I recently visited for “Ladies Night” when reduced admission was offered to women attending for a three division show of late models, PASS 305 sprint cars and street stocks. The show was well orchestrated by track officials with few breaks in the action. Tow and push trucks and rescue vehicles were quickly dispatched to on track incidents, minimizing any delays. Track announcers were entertaining and could be heard clearly. It was so refreshing to hear a female announcer for the sprint cars! Concession stands and food offerings were plentiful and we enjoyed a very good, crispy and hot pepperoni pizza and some fried pickles. My encounters with staff were all pleasant and service forward. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I look forward to visiting again soon.
Just a couple items Selinsgrove Speedway could work on include: 1. the track lighting, which seems to be lacking in comparison to today’s standards, 2. the walking paths behind the bleachers that were covered in crushed stone, which can be difficult for many to traverse and should be paved or concrete, and 3. the infield seemed like a dark desert from our perspective and could benefit from some visual interest—maybe video feed or even advertising—for bring it to life.
Bottom line: Selinsgrove Speedway is a fun, friendly, inexpensive option for your entertainment dollars. Get out and support this great racing facility and the local drivers that put...

Read moreThey're running tonight and the cars are looking pretty fast! This is a dirt track so choose your clothing options that work for you. You have the option for seating bleachers uncovered & covered all along the front stretch from turn 4 to turn 1. If you prefer to bring your own lawn chairs, there's a section for that and if you want the VIP experience, there's reserved seating or you can do what I did and stand in my favorite turn 4 area. This is family friendly with lots of food concession options. Gates opened this Saturday afternoon at 4pm but check the website for updated info. You can bring coolers and snacks with you but there's a sign stating "No Glass". There are local racers but also some from all over the country making for some really great racing. Get some earplugs if you like and have...
