I joined the Fort Meigs Y because it is close to my house, I mostly lap swim, this location only seems concerned with swimming lessons, both public and private. Every weeknight evening is swimming lessons u til 8 pm with lap swim from 8-8:15, what a joke! I went on a Saturday because the schedule stated that 4 lanes were open for lap swim, however, 2 of the lanes were being used for private lessons. When I complained about the lack of lap swim hours I was basically told that the swim lessons, including private which they make extra money from, is their highest demand and they feel it “best serves the majority of members”. So I’m paying over $100 a month for a family membership and I end up driving to the West Toledo location because for one the pool is much nicer and secondly the pool has much better availability for lap swim. Also, the locker room at the Perrysburg location is pretty nasty and outdated, I expected better for it being in Perrysburg, The only plus is that that they have a sauna and the gym area is nice, but if you’re a lap swimmer, this is not a good location, I think the West Toledo Y on Tremainsville is much better overall. Very disappointed with the...
Read moreI dont usually leave reviews. But I needed to share my poor experience and poor customer service. I went to play a nice round of basketball on a weird floor with a friend of mine. Had a very nice experience with the facility, except the gym floor weird. Anyways we had wrapped playing and I had went to go purchase a beverage from the vending machine. Unknowing that the machine was broke with no sign on it. And no clear indications something was wrong. The vending machine dID not work and unfortunately ate my money. NOT MY COMPLAINT. My complaint is when I went to go tell the 3 desk people, who were all sitting on their phones not doing anything. I politely say that if there was anything they could do about the vending machine. They said “it’s not our problem, you have to scan the QR code.” In the rudest manner. So I asked if they had anyone coming in to fix it or if they could put a sign on it or something. They reiterated that it wasn’t there problem and that it was mine. Understandable that you can’t do anything, but your staff is incredibly rude in such a small and pointless interaction and I hope my review affects something....
Read moreToday (December 6th 2023) at around 5pm, my friend and I came in to the YMCA after being turned away from planet fitness because my friend is too young. We decided to see if the Y (seeing that it is a family organization) would allow a 16 year old to lift in their gym if day passes were available to purchase. Being unfamiliar with how subscription works at the Y, we weren’t sure if a day pass was possible but we decided to go in and make sure. When I walked in and asked, an older woman at the front desk very rudely snapped “no we don’t do that here” at me, almost yelling. Taken aback, I apologized and the younger woman gracefully swooped in and explained how membership worked. She was lovely, she is why I have given three stars. I am tired of being treated differently by older employees because they assume young people won’t speak up. I will. I understand that workers aren’t robots and I would like to give this woman the benefit of the doubt. I am writing because I hope this treatment of people does...
