Dollar General — Local services in Petal

If it weren’t for the fact that the store has such a good selection of items (even though the aisles are jammed with full stock carts) I’d give a one star rating. When we went in the store I stood there waiting for the cashier to finish chit-chatting with a customer. The customer saw me standing there, and said she was sorry, very nicely…I said that’s ok, and the cashier didn’t seem to like that I interrupted her talking to the customer (she, the cashier was doing most of the talking). I asked the cashier to direct me to the camouflage/hunting (RealTree) section with the hats, socks, belts etc., she told me where they were. We finished shopping and got to the register, and she was very rude, ignoring what my husband said to her when he handed her a hat (a plain knit hat that wasn’t a RealTree brand), saying "this was in the clearance section"…She took it and didn’t say anything, I said he was wanting to know if the hat was on clearance, but we knew it could have been placed there by someone in the wrong place, and she continued talking as if we said nothing, I then tried to say something again, to which she then directed her answer to me, and was very patronizing, saying she told me where to look for the items I wanted and it wasn't in the clearance section/or near the clearance section... (we certainly found what we were looking for in the RealTree section), as well as other items, and the item in question, on farther down the aisle, (the one my husband tried to ask about). I got the feeling she thought we wanted her to mark it down, or thought we were trying to pull one over on her. She’s young enough to be my granddaughter, but she spoke to me like I was a child, and ignored my husband who is 70 years old. This was all about a birthday gift we were buying for our grown son. I also wanted another one for another son, and really tried to ignore how she had acted and make small talk asking her what section the hat came from so I would be able to find another one the next time I went shopping, and NEVER got a satisfactory response from her other than, she constantly argued about everything...

Its a nice place, plus it was good to see a person that use to work at another Dollar General. I have seen people leave one store and move to another. The workers need to be happy so they want to help you. Dollar General Stores does not hire enough people to get the supplies on shelves at a time, then that stress them out and they get fussed at. Some times there is only 2 people there. 1 cashier and 1 worker or 2 maybe. You can see why people don't stay, just watch and see for yourself. But I still shop there like a lot of people. It would be nice to see...

The store manager Kaycie needs a attitude check. She is the rudest i have ever seen in customer service it dont make since to stay outside and smoke cigarettes all day long on the phone while there is a line backed up with only 1 cashier. Then the cashier didnt wanna go get you for my price check because she said kaycie would get mad at her if she did. What kind of business are u operating where your employees say you have an attitude w the if they bother you. Get off the phone and put that cancer stick down and work.
