Wine Country Fine Furniture — Local services in Petaluma

I was looking all around the Bay Area for stores that sold all Italian leather power sofas and recliners, custom order. I had several requirements for seat height, back and slumber support and a seamless as possible. No split leather or vinyl. I went into several stores trying different companies and styles. All the sofa’s had a lead time of 8 to 10 months to custom order.

In my search of stores, I was very lucky to find Wine Country Fine Furniture in the town I live in, Petaluma, Ca. I spent hours with the owners Jack and Bonnie Rasmussen trying all the different sofa styes and going through several company books showing all the designs they carry.

The Palliser Hastings style had all the qualifications I was looking for and was totally customizable. And the lead time to receive the custom order was 8 to 10 weeks. Unfortunately, that company/style was not on the floor for me to sit in and try out.

I continued searching for where I could find that model on a store floor. I checked most of the distributors in California and called stores in the Bay Area for the Palliter Hastings model. I went back to Wine Country Fine Furniture to further discuss placing an order but still wanted to try it out 1st. Jack called the Palliser rep who services California after 5:00pm and she answered questions I had and told me the closest store that had this model on the floor. It was in Pacific Grove, just past Monterey. I called the store to verify that had it to actually see and sat on and drove 2.5 hours each way there on a Saturday. I loved it.

I went back for place the order with Jack Rasmussen. The custom order took 10 weeks to ship and 2.5 weeks to be delivered from Texas. I was kept informed via email of the status of my order along the way. Jack hired 2 guys Tyler and Cory who are in the Petaluma High School FFA program to deliver the order. They were a big help, very courteous and efficient in their work.

I love my new sofa and recliner with power foot recliner, lumbar and headrest support and 3 USB ports. The color was exactly what I ordered, the seams and leather are perfect. It’s just beautiful. I had a wonderful experience working with Jack and Bonnie at Wine Country...

We recently purchased a very nice leather, made in North Carolina couch from Mr. Jack Rasmussen owner of wine country fine furniture. My wife JAN and I found Mr. Rasmussen and his wife to be very nice people and they took their time in showing us the products we were interested in at their store on Bodega Ave., Petaluma. We purchased a fine couch, for an excellent price, and within a couple of days Jack showed up with the new couch, w three outstanding guys to assist in removing our old couch and installing the new- Domingo has worked for Jack for a number of years and really knew how to remove the old and install the new.. And also helping were two young guys Travis and Cooper from the FFA, future farmers of America, and both attend Petaluma high school. Both young guys polite, and excellent workers. I really don’t know how we got our old couch in the house, but young guys from the FFA knew how to get it out. It was virtually impossible to get the Massive old couch through our doorway,so they decided to cut it in half- so with the assistance of a power saws-all and an angle grinder, Jack, Domingo & the young guys proceeded to cut the old couch in half, which they did- They also hauled the old couch away, and left us with a beautiful new leather couch- my wife and I are totally impressed by their service- these days you just don’t find this type of service.. I understand that Jack Rasmussen plans on opening a new furniture store on Petaluma Boulevard in the near future. He can surely count on us as being customers. Sincerely, Cliff Bond...

We had just bought a new vacation house in Petaluma, and although it was completely unfurnished, friends from West Los Angeles insisted on staying with us. They intended to stay for 4 nights, but we had no living room furniture. We are all in our 70's, and I felt in order to make our guests visit comfortable, we would all be happier sitting on furniture rather than on the floor.

I called several local shops in the Petaluma area, to inquire about renting furniture, but came up with nothing until I reached Jack. He was immediately sympathetic and encouraged me and my husband to come to the shop to pick out some pieces that we might want to rent. We showed him what we liked, and after inquiring about our budget, he seemed to take pity on us and offered quite reasonable prices.

When Jack delivered the furniture, he brought a few more pieces, including a very comfortable recliner for very little extra cost, which he knew my husband would love. We arranged for delivery and pick up, and in the end, what we ended up paying was markedly less than if our guests had stayed in a local hotel for the four nights.

From our first phone conversation, I believe Jack cared about my small plight and I can't think of any proprietor I've worked with over these many years who was as helpful.
