Dogwood Trace Golf Course — Local services in Petersburg

First and foremost the course was in better condition then I had expected. I enjoyed playing on the course itself as it had quite a few challenging holes, and the greens were hard and fast, but forgiving. But oh boy lets get to reading. After reading reviews that the bunkers weren't taken care of by golfers, and divots on the green not fixed..... It was half true. Yes there were some bunkers not raked by the golfers (each cart had a rake, and no rake was on the course), and yes some greens had divots that weren't fixed. That's golf, HOWEVER, the biggest complaint I have is that the pace of play was TERRIBLE. 5 and a half hours to play a round of golf. My group was caught behind them the entire round, and they didn't once offer for us to go through or even acknowledged us as we were waiting patiently to tee off. They were so worried about finding their golfballs in the woods or huddling around the green, or even slowly placing their clubs in their bag. They slowed everything down. They seemed like they knew what they were doing, so I don't understand how they do not know what the pace of play is. There wasn't even anyone in front of them. It took me out of my rhythm and my friends. I also don't understand how a course can allow 2 people to ride in separate carts.. maybe due to Covid... okay thats fine, but having groups of 5 and 6 players playing together. No thanks, I'd play here again if everything was more in order, but I'd rather spend my money on a course that is more suited that follow the rules of golf. Id give the the course 4.5 starts, the staff 5 stars, but overall...

This place was awful.There was definitely no SOUL in this FOOD.The young lady that answered the phone to take my order was very pleasant. I believe she was new but very friendly. I placed my order and went to pick it up. The older lady was very rude and unprofessional, not only to me as a customer but to the young lady as well. When I arrived the older lady said they no longer serve green beans they're no longer on the menu I would need to get something else. My boyfriend explained to her there was nothing else I ate on the menu so I would just get the fried chicken.He ordered Mac and cheese and we also got pork chop. All of the food was dry and had no seasoning.Not only was the food dry without the seasoning but I still paid for a full meal and didn't get sides. I paid for sweet potatoe pie but it wasn't in the bag. This was very disappointing. It was my first and last time visiting. They definitely will...

I had been told the course was in great shape. So I went with high hopes. When I entered the "pro shop", the young gal at the counter was too busy talking with her co-worker to bother to acknowledge me. She was clearly bothered that I wanted to check in. She proceeded to tell me she could not check me in prior to 1 PM for my 1:05 PM tee time if I wanted to pay the twilight rate: "She didn't know how". But she could check me in if I would pay the full rate. Had it not been for my friend, I would have walked out. I kept my cool and said I would wait, but that every other course I had ever played would let you check in any time. Then, miraculously she knew how to check me in at the lower rate. The course was mediocre and no marshall anywhere. Needless to say I will not...
