I honestly donāt know where to begin! We got married here September 28, 2019. But we booked over a year in advance. We had our tour of the property immediately after we got engaged. Janet Boothe did our tour, and I was sold as soon as we left! We booked the Premier Package (the entire property from noon on Friday to noon on Sunday - including all six cabins). We also added Full Day of Coordinating and Full Decor Styling to the package. If you have the budget for this, I wouldnāt even second guess that decision! The ladies at FFL are beyond talented. My major lifeline for planning was Carlin Hage, one of the owners. We did all communication through email with a couple phone calls near the end of the planning process to finalize details. Since Carlin was unable to be in town for our wedding, Janet Boothe and Jill Ballard did the decor and coordinating. I was a little nervous, but when Carlin told me about Janet and Jillās experience it soothed my worries. And I 100% had nothing to worry about. Honestly it felt like we basically had an entire team there that day and they made it so smooth. But I could talk LOADS on how amazing Janet was as she was the main coordinator, literally could go on for pages!! I did not have to lift a finger the entire weekend. All decor was done / tore down by the ladies and our florist. I had talked with both Carlin and Janet/Jill over the phone about the decor, and let their creativity figure it out with some stuff! Everything turned out better than I could have imagined... and my family and I didnāt have to spend hours decorating. It was so great for us to just relax! The day of our wedding it did rain, but honestly it didnāt throw anything off our day-of timeline. Janet was so on top of everything and it was all so smooth. She had clear umbrellas ready for us... just in case. She was so positive and SO SO SO prepared. Iām a registered nurse myself, so organization was so important for me and Janet hit the nail on head. Iāve been to many weddings that at the rehearsal the bride is expected to run the rehearsal with the coordinator in the background. This was not the case with Janet which I LOVED! She had went over the outlines I had emailed and was completely prepared. I didnāt have to think or do a thing the entire weekend! In addition to everything Janet and Jill did for us that weekend... The venue is absolutely gorgeous and our wedding was perfect, beyond that the planning was even perfect and easy. Email communication worked great for me so I could look back at our conversations and keep notes. Four Fillies Lodge made our dreams come true for our wedding. We will forever be grateful!! Our other vendors that I HIGHLY recommend include: The Moss & Rose (florist), Kathyās Custom Catering (rehearsal dinner & reception dinner), Kuirsta + Seth (photographer), Alyson Biggs Films (videographer), DJ Rick Pruett, Mountain State Cakes, and Donut Diva (donuts for our donut wall). Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe have visited Four Fillies Lodge several times and enjoyed / highly recommend staying there. The grounds are beautiful and the property as a whole is conveniently located. However if you choose to stay at the Glo Haus, please be well informed beforehand so you can determine if this cabin, verses other beautiful cabins at Four Fillies, is the right match for your trip. The cabin is at the rear of the Sherwood Forest, which is okay, so long as you are aware for planning (such as walking limitations or loading stuff to and from your cabin, as it can we long walk when carrying heavy / bulky items over the beautiful bridge over the creek and down paths of loose rocks / pebbles). There is not a kitchen sink (there is a portable sink) nor running water (there is a water hose outside near the cabin), nor bathroom in the cabin (the bathroom / shower room is approximately 80 steps away from the bottom step of the Glo Haus, in a separate structure that you must have a key to access), nor are there cleaning supplies for the portable sink so I can only presume guests before my check-in date didnāt use detergent to wash the used dishes (we used hand soap from the bathroom). The paths at night are not well lit, so bring a flashlight. We got so tired (& a little unsettled), going to and from the bathroom in the middle of the night, in the dark, down the unlit path (we are old and have pea size bladders), we eventually started using the potty in a portable / disposable container (gross, I know, but it had to be done) because we didnāt trust walking the dark path several times a night. And lastly, the āGloā Haus does not glow. The roof is not blue (as the photos depict). You can not see stars (but there is a star nightlight that you can shine on the ceiling at night in one of the rooms, the cord for the night light was missing in the second room); otherwise, the roof is just covered in corrugated plastic or plexiglas). With all of the above being said, the cabin was beautifully decorated, the air / heating units worked wonderfully, the beds were very comfortable, the Sherwood Forest area as a whole was gorgeous, there are a lot of great activities to do, and even with all of the surprising revelations / inconveniences, we enjoyed ourselves. If you stay there, I would recommend to pack lightly, bring a portable potty (like you can use on camping trips), bring disposable plates / silverware and be okay with walking over rocks / pebbles to the rear of the property. Iād definitely stay at Four Fillies Lodge again; however, Iād choose a different cabin (one that had an attached bathroom, running water, a kitchen sink thatās not portable and one where I can park a few feet away from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wedding was on October 12, 2019. From the moment that I chose FF my stress level was low. My bridesmaids, strangers, and family always commented on how chill I was as a bride to be. I was never stressed or overwhelmed. The planning time went by so fast and the most I had to do was say yes or no a few times. I am actually pretty picky but Carlin understood my wants and needs. The day of the wedding went really smooth. The FF staff was amazing and the vendors they helped me choose went above and beyond.
The price point was amazing and I felt like I was saving so much money. I am from Maryland and I know that weddings here are really expensive. I got everything I wanted at my price point. The vendors that I chose with the help of FF were amazing. I did not lift a finger. They served me a plate of food and I am so thankful for this. I was being pulled left and right for photos and being reminded to eat was a blessing.
I chose the package to stay the weekend at FF with my family and bridal party. We felt at home and it was completely magical to be in the setting of where I was going to be married. My husky was allowed on FF grounds and to be in the wedding this was a huge deciding factor. He absolutely enjoyed being out in the woods. We were able to have the rehearsal dinner at the picnic area. It was really cute and Pinterest perfect. I just loved not having to leave the FF at all the entire weekend. The day after the wedding FF staff packed up all of my belongings from the venue (decor). I just had to pack my car and roll our to my honeymoon.
My family wants to return for family reunions and nice getaways to WV. I truly adore this place and their hospitality, professionalism, and the beautiful venue. This review might seem all over the place but there is so much that I can say about this venue and family! I do not regret having my wedding here one bit. I can't wait to get my photos so I can share them with FF. I hope we were not too rowdy for you all! Thank you for a...
