The Badlands Loop Scenic Drive is a fantastic experience with "other worldly" views and the opportunity for hikes that bring you close to the landscape. This drive is best suited for those who are willing to slow down and enjoy their time in the Badlands. If you are in a hurry, it might be best to skip the Badlands on your trip.
There are a couple of routes you can take through the park. Depending on the route you take and the experiences you choose, it can take anywhere from half a day to a full day to drive through the park. If you want to do some extended hikes, then schedule multiple days here.
The speed is limited through most of the park. The amount of traffic and numerous pull outs and observation points will only lengthen your time in the park.
Bring plenty of liquids, as the only place to refill your water is at the visitor center located on the southern loop of the park.
