For a couple into fly fishing, which Sharon and I are most definitely, this cabin is perfect! Situated on the banks of Rock Creek with abundant private river frontage (a total of six miles in several parcels) to fish, spectacular scenery, and quaint Philipsburg less than 20 minutes away, the location can't be beat. There are only three rental cabins on the property, two within a half mile of one another, and a slightly larger unit six or seven miles further down the road. No crowding at all, and we had a big cow moose grazing within 15 feet of the kitchen window the first evening!||||The cabin we stayed in - Cottonwood - itself is not large, but is all the space needed by a couple (or two couples if they are very good friends), and was built within the past two or three years. Tastefully decorated in a lodgy log interior with satellite TV and wifi, you can stay connected while being out in the wilderness (however, cell coverage is pretty much non-existent). There is a gas stove (that looks like a wood burner) for heat and ambiance, the thermostat remote control kept the cabin at a comfortable temperature during nights with lows in the high 30's. A fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops provided everything required for making our meals, and there is a gas grill on the porch, with a complete set of grilling tools, A Keurig coffee maker is included, along with a stash of single-serving KCups.||||Bedrooms (2 plus a loft) are small but beds are very comfortable, the two baths are compact but functional with a modern shower each and tankless water heater that kept us well supplied with hot water. The cabin was spotless.||||Shelly, the owner, called shortly after our arrival to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, answer any questions, and provide tips on areas to fish. She lives just down the road, and I felt certain she would quickly attend to any issues that might have come up (none did).||||Weather was not on our side for fishing, as it rained two inches in the first 24 hours of our three-night stay. We did manage to catch some nice trout, but we will look forward to a second crack at Rock Creek next summer. And we will for sure stay here again...

Read moreWe just stayed at Cottonwood for three days. The cabin was AMAZING! Very clean, more then enough room for 6 people and comes fully stocked with dishes, towels and even salt and pepper. You can hear the stream from the porch and we saw baby bear on our first day there. We also saw a mama moose and her baby, a dozen deer and of course a variety of birds. We fished all up and down Rock Creek and went into town to look around. This place is well worth the nightly charge. I wished we could have stayed longer but we will be back later this...
