South Dakota State Historical Society — Local services in Pierre

The earthen architecture alone is awesome, a nice little shop inside, and the museum - primarily Native American items - is $8 for out of state and free for SD residents. Very cool. Wow!! This place is a wonderful way to learn a lot about the history of South Dakota!! So much packed into this museum, well worth a visit by anyone, kids and adults alike! They have lots of information for the adults and many fun little interactive stuff for the kids. Admission is free for kids under 17 and adults are $4. So glad we checked it out!! The Cultural Heritage Museum was incredible!! It's free to SD residents and there was so much history and artifacts from the area. As a new resident, there was so much to learn and I could have probably spent all day. It was interactive and fun for my 5 year old.
