Mike Tackett's Market — Local services in Pikeville

This is how you want your local store to be, at least for me. Growing up in an era where, most stores were local (Unless you drove to Pikeville for Piggly Wiggly) they always had a certain charm to them. It didn't feel like you were going out to a place of business, it felt like you were going out to see friends and family, but you were going to pick up some stuff while you're there.

Tackett's still continues this tradition. I went out there recently to grab some tomato plants, which is where I go every season. They always have an great selection, and unlike other local stores (I'm looking at you Quality Foods) the prices wont take your last penny.

The selection of items are par for the course, but they do have other things that you would expect from a country store, which in my mind, makes it unique. As I said before, the prices aren't sky high either. You can get what you need at a fair price.

The service is great as well. Any employee I ever interacted with here, has always been very nice, helpful, courteous with a laid back attitude. You never feel out of place here, you feel like you're part of their family, something that seldom happens anymore.

I didn't like doing busy with this place because I called to ask what time they closed they told me 8:00. I went by the same day and they was closed at 6:00. There web site says 8 also but they are not open...
