WPXI-TV — Local services in Pittsburgh

This channel was always the go to for me, not anymore.

Over the years, probably starting around 2018, the channel began to noticeably cut on-air talent among other things. No more Channel 11 News chopper as they went the route of drones for cost cutting. They cut back on the amount of stories they cover around the city and areas around Pittsburgh, opting to go outside the area and show stories covered by their other NBC Affiliates or sometimes even other networks in different markets.

Example 1: They went to a nail salon that Fox5 Atlanta covered and did. It was to highlight how tariffs Trump imposed on China will impact this salon because the price will go up for her on product, costing her profits.

Example 2: They show a story from Indian State covered by their local affiliate in the area talking about how a teenager and friend OD from a THC vape pen laced with fentanyl. That's it. They added no additional facts to the story, nothing other than a story from another state. Sad, yes, but I'm not watching local Pittsburgh news for sad stories from multiple states away that aren't a national headline story.

They easily could have found a business in Pittsburgh effected enough to go on the news to talk about it if they wanted to, but for either pure laziness or bias to throw a negative story towards Trump, they still do it.

I get having to cover major political news, that's understandable and I don't mind the break from local news when you're covering important news, not these random stories you want to show from across the country when you could be covering stories about the community you should be highlighting, Pittsburgh.

It's also the only news channel l've ever seen cover confiscated weapons at the airport like this is 2002. Any time there's a gun found, no matter what the intentions are for it being brought into the airport, they cover it. Highly highly bizarre as l've never heard of any major issues with safely concerns coming from there.

Please stop trying to scare everyone...

Its going to be awhile before I watch the news on this station again. The coverage of this weekend's storm and the forecast for this weather event bordered on unethical. In the morning I had no problem with them chirping about snow amounts. Then at noon I really thought they were going to start focusing on this being a major rain event. I looked at the radar and it was pretty obvious this storm was not going to snow as they expected for most of the immediate pgh area. I was dead wrong, they were still pumping the snow totals up. Now fast forward to the 6pm news. At this point it is obvious to everyone the snow is not coming as its been raining all day and the rain is going to be here for awhile by looking at the radar on my phone. I only tuned in for entertainment purposes as the radar was showing rain for another 8 hrs. Guess what, instead of switching gears and focusing on all this rain they still continued the talk about snow totals. 3-6" in cranberry, 1-3" in pgh ect....This was straight up grandstanding. These snow totals were not possible at this point. For these people to continue to ignore all this rain is unfathomable. Many people get wet basements and live in poor drainage areas. We needed good info about rain totals . Nobody really cares about an inch of snow they may or may not get. This team of so called meteorologists really dropped the ball on this storm, but they will get a free pass. For one they should of never tried predicting this storm early in the week when they had no clue. And two, they should of just admitted their errors...

My husband was shot and killed and WPXI tv took it to the next level... made my husband sound like a murderer... posted pictures of my husband only God knows where from... their so called facts were pulled from under a rock, bc they were so NOT correct... between the local newspaper, WPXI, and WTAE... all 3 had a completely different story about what happened with my husband and most of the information wasn't true... only half decent thing about WPXI TV is the weather and half the time they're...
