Letter of Complaint From my Husband I first went to Rasmussen cabinets and they were easy to work with. They helped us design the cabinets for our new home. They gave us a quote and said to return to finalize when the time frame for install was closer. When we returned to finalize our choices, we learned our original designer had quit. The new designer had us pick out all our selections again. My wife noticed our cabinet stain selection was missing from the showroom and our paint choice was now in the upgrade section. The designer informed us the stain we wanted was discontinued. She spoke with her boss and they agreed to still give us that stain. She then told us our paint choice had always been an upgrade (even though we were originally told it was not) and that the price would be the same. When we received the new quote, it was $1,000 more than the original quote. We reviewed the quote and our choices were the same, but the descriptions had been changed by Rasmussen, especially for the island and the range hood. We tried to discuss this with them, but they wouldn’t honor the first quote. Stating it was an error on the other designer’s part. Unfortunately for us we were too far along with our construction to find another company that could meet our timeline. When the cabinets were being installed I immediately had concerns. I’ve worked in construction for more than 22 years and it was obvious the installer didn’t know what he was doing. The next day another installer came and told the first installer what he was doing wrong. The first installer didn’t recognize the double oven cabinet was built smaller than the other cabinets and installed it anyway. This caused a delay as the cabinet had to be removed, a new one built and installed. When the range hood was installed in its cabinet we found the cutout was too small. We had sent the product specs to Rasmussen before the cabinet was built. Someone had to come and cut the correct measurements. During the week the cabinets were installed we found a large scratch and chip missing in the newly installed wood floors. The installer denied any wrong doing, but we had no other contractor in the home during the time the cabinets were delivered and installed. I tried to talk to Rasmussen several times over a two-month period, but they would not acknowledge my complaint. After I received a second invoice asking for payment I informed them again I would not pay until the matter was resolved. Then I received an invoice with a $200 credit for the scratches in the floor. We moved in and noticed several things wrong with the cabinets. First the doors on the laundry room cabinets. The doors didn’t line up or sit flush. They were warped. Rasmussen sent someone out to replace the doors with new ones. My wife mentioned to the installer that the new doors were doing the same thing. He told her, “All doors warp a little but at least these are better than the last ones.” Second issue was several drawers throughout the house didn’t line up. It looked like the backs of the drawers were set to high, it caused the top front face of the drawers to stick out farther than the bottom. When the installer came to fix the drawers, he made some adjustments but couldn’t make them line up like they should. When we asked why, we were told that when our cabinets were built the machine was broken and that’s why the drawers don’t line up. I decided to use Rasmussen Cabinets because they were recommended to me for making quality cabinets at a more affordable rate. However, I have since learned that to receive quality product and work from Rasmussen you must know the owner. It came to my knowledge if the owner Colton Rasmussen knows the person he is building the cabinets for he sends out an email to his employees telling them he knows the client. That his employees need to take extra care of this client and to make sure they do a good job. I would think a company like Rasmussen would want to take care of everyone of their customers and try to make them all happy with their product.

1st) Our install date kept getting pushed back multiple times but the main issue is that Rasmussen never made an effort to inform me of updates. **Having waited 3 months after I signed original paperwork, I decided to touch base a week before the initial install date and was told with the supply and demand, my cabinets weren’t quite finished yet. I understood and continued to wait another week for our new install date. **I then touched base the day before the new install date only to be told once more the cabinets ready because they hadn’t passed the quality check yet and they needed to reschedule once more. **Getting a 3rd install date, they were supposed to deliver the cabinets on a Thursday and install on Friday. I went up to the house Thursday night only to realize nothing had been delivered. The next morning, I called to get an update. I wasn’t told WHY they weren’t delivered only that they would be delivered the next day pushing my install even later into the next week.
2nd) Feeling some frustration, I called the store and asked to speak to the owner about what I felt were very valid concerns! **I called at least 3 different times, 3 different days all of which I was told “He isn’t available but will reach out to you later”. Needless to say, I NEVER heard from him.
3rd) When originally installed, my garbage pull out door was installed with screws sticking out. (To have the install date pushed back because the cabinets needed to pass the quality check amazes me.) **When I reached out to the install manager about it, she sounded annoyed on the phone and said she’d get a new door reordered. 2 weeks had passed and I hadn’t heard anything so I AGAIN reached out to them. It took 3 weeks to get my ONE pull out door replaced.
If you’re looking for a reliable company that values a positive customer experience, Rasmussen is NOT the place to go. After all, their mission statement is to “Provide superior products at the best prices.” I guess that means forget about the customer!

Read moreWe’ve used Rasmussen Custom Cabinetry a couple of times. The first time when we built our home in 2020 and again last year when we had an office space done.
The level of customer service was exceptional with both jobs. I’d like to share what set them apart from others in both experiences.
When our home was built the cabinets were built satisfactorily and we were happy with it. After a couple years we noticed that the white cabinets in our kitchen and master bathroom had some yellowing. We contacted Rasmussen’s and a serviceman came to look, he noticed the discoloration and said he’d have to follow up. A few days later the owner of the company, Colton Rasmussen, arrived to inspect. He agreed that the coloration was distorted and that because of the pandemic he had received a couple batches of bad paint. At this time we were well out of any new construction warranty and were willing and expecting to pay for our cabinets to be repainted. Colton said he’d have it done right away and there would be no charge to us since it was due to a batch of bad paint. Again, being well out of the new construction warranty he could have easily charged us some labor, or deflected responsibility but he showed true integrity and honesty. That reflects the company and people who are working for them. From that experience we will never work with another cabinetry company and refer Rasmussen’s to everyone we know.
Lastly, our office space required a very custom cabinet design and color. Colton and his team went above and beyond to deliver the cabinets we had envisioned!
Rasmussen’s Custom Cabinetry is a standard...
