Rockford Bike Shop — Local services in Plainfield Charter Township

Went in to this Local Bike shop after shopping around while traveling on business from other Grand Rapids area stores and a few in the Kalamazoo and Chicago Areas. I wanted to buy a bike locally (I live as close to Rockford as to any other shop) and have an idea of what I might expect on price and all the stuff that goes into purchasing a bike. I knew nothing about bikes, and hadn't ridden a bike for more than 10 minutes since the early 80's. The service was friendly, encouraging, and they were willing to entertain my newbie questions like "how do you shift", "where are the pedals", "what's THAT do", "why is the seat so small". I didn't buy anything the first time I went in, or the second, and they were both on Saturdays in the spring, and they continued to answer my questions and offer advice, insight, while trying to help me choose the best bike for my purpose. Their pricing was in line or better than I'd found on similar level bikes at other shops.

I bought a bike there and was very pleased with it. Then I had more questions, and wanted to ride more. Each time I stopped in, they encouraged me to stop in, ask questions, and invited me to participate in group rides. No pressure, just friendly encouragement, great advice, and good service.

I have bought two more bikes from them since, and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. ...

They repair and maintain IT ALL! From your antique Eddy Mercx racer to your 2021 Santa Cruz, they are on top! The shoppe is well stocked with the best curated selection of all merchandise needs! But, the real "jewel" here is the the people and the owners! The folks that own and operate this shoppe are the best in the Biz. Seriously: I had a catastrophic failure mid-50 mile training ride very recently. We were really disappointed today in the experience we had in your bike shop. We came in for suspension work after having a recommendation and calling ahead to find our pricing. We were lead to the back to talk to the mechanic who was busy doing something down in a cupboard. For the first 2 minutes talking to us he never stood up or made eye contact, making us feel like an inconvenience. We were told over the phone it would $200 total and then he said it would be closer to $500. When we said we were told different over the phone there was no, “hey man, sorry about that”. We don’t expect you to give a price if the person was wrong over the phone, but acknowledging we were told wrong would have been nice. New location is great and looks like good inventory.
