The only reason 2 stars are given is because of the outstanding Food & Beverage team managed by Stacey Castleman. She is a true pro and very customer focused. Roger at the front desk is still awesome as is the new starter and I don't know his name..... My group has been playing at Ridgeview for the past 12 years and are acknowledged as being some of the most regular golfers at this course....not anymore. With the most recent management change everything has headed straight downhill. Pace of Play on the weekends is the worst it has ever been and course management by the Marshall's is horrible. One of my group almost got into a physical confrontation with one of the new guys 2 weeks ago because of his poor attitude and condescending remarks. He told us it was his second day and proceeded to be an expert about everything and told us we were wrong in our complaints and recommendations for better pace of play. We called in to the Pro shop yesterday on #3(#1 handicap on the course) when the group in front of us waited until the group in front of them was on the green before hitting their T-shots. After their consistent 200 yd drives, 2 of the 4-some hit mulligans on their second shots... Marshal came out and told us "it isn't their fault, the group 3 in front of them has 2 guys who have never played"...We waited on every shot on the front and played in 2 hours and 40 minutes.. Our T shots on #10 had us all over the hill and out of site for the group behind us. We were waiting for the group to get off the green in front of us. After the green cleared I hit 5 iron to just in front of the par 5 after my cart partner hit a 240 yd 3 wood to 7 feet...oh yea, we waited so long the guys behind us hit into us with one of their drives actually hitting one of our carts on the roll... Group in front of us again waited on #11(#2 handicap) until the group in front of them was on the green to hit their T shots. We were done....we drove past them and 2 4-somes on #12(a par 3). The group on the green had 2 guys actually sitting down on the green while their playing partners finished putting. 2 4-somes sill in play on #13, the short par 4. 2 different 2-somes on 14 not playing together(great course management on a Saturday) #15 had 2 4-somes both reloading beer coolers from the bevcart as we passed them going to the #16 t-box....16, 17 and 18 were wide open with NO groups. What a horrible day...no Marshall on the back 9 at all....We spoke to to Joe Don, the new GM with no results of any kind. I politely shook Rogers hand and told him it would be a long time before we come back after having this type round for the last 6 visits. Thank Goodness Indian Creek reopens this week!! How about them...

Sept 2025: New golf carts! Huge improvement! $$ being spent on the course - general clean up & weed eating make the course shine. Good variety of hole design & shotmaking. Greens in great shape No water on course; bev cart is available Great value for seniors

Oct 2024. (Up from 3 āļø April review)

Played Copper tees (7,025, 74.5, 138)

Greens were great shape! Serious improvement from my April review. Primary fairways & tee boxes = just fine. Areas around cart paths need work Area around greens were over watered. Pace of play slow; 4 1/2 hours on Monday Bev cart was a plus Course is a hidden gem - playable with trouble lurking. Needs general maintenance/ weed-eating of fences to improve aesthetics. Great value for seniors (approx $45)

April 2024 Senior, played blue tees ( 6,530, 72.2, 132) I played early am; 2 days after very heavy rains, cart path only. Played long. ** Course has serious potential! The course architecture & layout are solid. Fairways are generous Plenty of trouble with woods & sand traps As noted by others - some greens have sandy or poanna patches in spots - putting was tough to gauge. Bare spots near cart paths & side of fairways. May 2025 update: For a public course very interesting, varied layout. Yes - there are areas that need work but worth a visit. Aug 2025 update: Greens are fantastic!! Consistent, they hold, fast with plenty of breaks, well done!

Nov 2024: With more maintenance ( ex weed eating ā€˜& mowing ) this course will shine. Gas carts, no food / bev cart when I played Staff was welcoming & fit me in Range = mats only but good putting area. Great value for seniors ($42) with good pace of play. Give...

This course has a unique opportunity and advantage over other courses in the area, in that its excellent design offers a variety of different shot needs, as the holes meander through a rare piece of scenic, hilly, well-forested section of Plano. Some of the holes demand a keen mix of strategy and precise shot making, sometimes requiring the player to put aside ego.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that I have played this course many times over the years and I can say that Ridgeview Ranch has seen better days.

Despite north Texas experiencing above-average rainfall this year, the course somehow has several spots of hard-pan, and other compacted dirt with dead grass throughout many of the fairways, rough, and even on the concrete-hard greens. In the case of the greens, the lack of care has lead to what appears to be a large poa annua infestation.

The rough is un-evenly maintained and in need of seeding, and consistent care and cutting.

They appear to have lost all of their stakes, so hitting an errant shot means your playing partners need to agree whether the area is a lateral hazard or is out of bounds.

From a practice area perspective, their putting green is better than the actual greens, but their range is awful, in that 100% of the times I have visited, the "Mats Only Today" sign is out, requiring you to hit shots off what is essentially green-colored concrete.

This place has real potential, but it is going to need some serious care and attention first, to return it to its...
