I recommend visiting The Farmer’s House for a few reasons. First, they provide some truly wonderful volunteer opportunities. My kids love volunteering and The Farmers House is so easy to work with, they provide a variety of different ways to volunteer and they are so flexible when scheduling. If you are looking to give back to your community they are a worthy cause! Second, their mission of inclusivity is not only admirable but achievable. We’ve had some of the best service at the Farmer’s House. It’s a little piece of the world where differences disappear and that is beautiful! Lastly, my kids and I always find some fun and unique treasures in the shop. Highly recommend!

PROs: Great location. Beautiful drive on Highway 273. Non-profit organization, they serve & assist individuals with developmental disabilities, spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, and other disabilities. Great store and friendly - helpful informative service. Connie is great! She provided the background of the company and shared product information. CONs: There's not enough organization such as this.

We went to their corn fest last weekend. We enjoyed the band and games that were set up. Excellent food. The pesto corn was a hit !! Apple fritters were the best I’ve had.

Vaughn's Orchard (old name). 99% of the food products for sale in the store are NOT made here but offered for sale from other commercial places. You can find most items at many other locations pretending to be a "down home" establishment. I remember when it WAS all made here. I miss that. The new owners have gone the commercial route. The only thing "home made, home grown" here are what grows on vine or tree. They don't even keep bees anymore for honey. Apple tarts are made local though by special needs friends, and are excellent. I miss the old days.. :( The building is historic, the orchards are historic... The processed products from candy to cider are all imports now from OTHER places. You can get these exact same products made and packaged by same manufactures almost anywhere. Its NOT "home made", just packaged like it is from the "commercial" places that make it. The atmosphere is the same as when I went here as a pup, but now it feels like a front, a deception. I am 62 years old and I am...

Drove to the Platte City location first. They were closed at 1pm on a Friday. Passerby said to try their location in Weston and when we got there, we were told they no longer make pumpkin butter, then she recommended we try their other location. I asked her if she would mind calling to make sure they had it. We shopped for a while but she never came back. Another lady in the store overheard us and she said to go right across the street to the Weston Red Barn, she had just come from there and saw they had pumpkin butter. So we headed over and the place was Great. No one greets you or says thanks for coming at The Farmer's House. I was expecting a much more friendly experience. And helpful. Would...
