Vaughn's Orchard (old name). 99% of the food products for sale in the store are NOT made here but offered for sale from other commercial places. You can find most items at many other locations pretending to be a "down home" establishment. I remember when it WAS all made here. I miss that. The new owners have gone the commercial route. The only thing "home made, home grown" here are what grows on vine or tree. They don't even keep bees anymore for honey. Apple tarts are made local though by special needs friends, and are excellent. I miss the old days.. :( The building is historic, the orchards are historic... The processed products from candy to cider are all imports now from OTHER places. First, they provide some truly wonderful volunteer opportunities. My kids love volunteering and The Farmers House is so easy to work with, they provide a variety of different ways to volunteer and they are so flexible when scheduling. If you are looking to give back to your community they are a worthy cause!
Second, their mission of inclusivity is not only admirable but achievable. We’ve had some of the best service at the Farmer’s House. It’s a little piece of the world where differences disappear and that is beautiful!
Lastly, my kids and I always find some fun and unique treasures in the...
