2021-12: Let me first say I didn't visit here to utilize the boat ramp, rather to explore the shore line and see the sunset over the lake.
That being said, the road from HWY 28 to the boat ramp is a scenic one, with gorgeous rolling hills and views at all times. It surprisingly ends with a large parking area for vehicles with or without boat trailers. There is a restroom at the parking area that is housed in a small, two room building, with the facilities being "outhouse style", so no running water/flushable toilets. Still, better than no facilities when one is in need. The area was well maintained when I visited.
Since I came here to explore the shoreline, I cannot give any feedback to the ramps/courtesy dock, but for those who are interested in some leisurely short walks or exploration, this is another beautiful area of this lake. Just a short distance from the parking area through the tree line and there are some beautiful views of the lake in all directions. The shoreline went from manicured to a natural landscape, complete with famous Georgia clay, "cliffs" due to erosion, and all sorts of wildlife and geological finds. It was pretty interesting to see the natural aspects hidden in...
Read morePretty decent boat ramp, but well off the "beaten path." If you've never been here before you're probably going to think you're going the wrong way when you turn off the main road, but just keep going, it's back there. Once you've driven what seems like forever, it finally opens up into a nice big parking lot with plenty of spaces. The make ready area isn't really clearly defined, but it's easy to figure out where you're supposed to go. Once you're ready to put in there is a very organized system and pathway to keep order when using the two main boat ramps. There is a third smaller boat ramp, but it is rarely used as the organization keeps things on the two bigger ramps flowing quite nicely. The ramps are a little more narrow than I would like, but I got up and down pretty easy with my 21' boat, and there were several boats there that were quite a bit larger than mine. The dock space is pretty limited and you might have to float around in the cove to pick up any passengers for quite awhile if you catch it at a busy time, but its not too significant of a problem on a normal days. Its a good boat ramp, and the one I will continue to use when I...
Read moreMy favorite ramp on the lake. I only go on week days. It's never crowded during the week. Ramps are at the perfect angle for my launch. Kayak launch is easy as well. Dock is not very big but plenty...
