I tried to make a purchase from this store (Brandywine Ace Pet & Farm) via Facebook Marketplace where Lauren is the contact person. She would not communicate as appropriate via the marketplace. I finally called the store and left a message for her and she wasn’t in. She returned my call and was very curt & unfriendly.
Claimed that she didn’t respond because my messages seemed like a scam. I identified myself, made an offer, didn’t ask her to go off of Marketplace (a typical scam move), I have a Facebook profile that she could easily check. I was totally above board operating within Facebook Marketplace rules.
The item she was offering for sale included the ability to make an offer (see their other listings) lower than the asking price, which I did & explained why I did so. She could have just declined the offer politely. But nope, better to ignore - for 2 days & through 2 attempts to message her via the marketplace.
All I can say was that Lauren was rude, unprofessional & unfriendly. Maybe she was having a bad morning, but I don’t deserve to be the object of her wrath. Shame on you Lauren. I was just trying to work a deal with you. Just business. I wasn’t rude or disrespectful. No need to get offended or short with a potential customer.
She has since removed the ability to make an offer because I pointed out to her that her listing allowed me to do so. A few days later the item was completely withdrawn from the marketplace (not sold mind you, withdrawn) - interesting!
Again all Lauren had to do was politely decline the offer or make a counter offer or just simply respond.
So sad. Lauren, you need better customer service & communication skills. Please take my advice & get some. Ace Brandywine, please take my advice & get Lauren the help she needs to improve otherwise your business will...

This is an excellent local hardware, farm, and pet store. The store is well stocked, the prices are competitive, and the staff is diverse, knowledgeable and eager to help; and they really do help! They know their stock and want to solve problems. Truly customer focused.
On November 20, 2018, they had 20% off sale on almost everything in the store. What a fun time! It was a festive event that included food and decorations and plenty of staff to support the customers. The owner of the store was at the door greeting customers as they entered, and offered to carry packages to vehicles when they were leaving. A class act!
Although the store was crowded, the customer and staff vibe was very positive; everyone was friendly and excited to be there. It reminded me of an old fashioned operation where the merchant gives back to the community through an open house event like this. It validated the importance of shopping small to ensure these local shops that employ our neighbors and have experienced and knowledgeable staff remain in business to help local residents and support the community.

As a follow up, I received a note of apology from the young girl who checked me out along with a gift certificate. She also followed up right away with a phone call. She was not the problem at all. She couldn’t have been nicer or more professional. The person with whomI had issue was in the middle of the store. I had no idea where to take my propane tanks so I sat them on the floor and waited for him to finish his conversation. I could tell he was on with a customer and that it was not a simple conversation. After I waited several minutes and another customer approached me, this gentleman yelled and said“ I’m on a call” as if that wasn’t apparent. I never asked him to hang up and the entire store was busy so I was going to have to wait for someone, which was fine. It was his comment and his attitude at which I was appalled. I hope the store corrects his attention to customers. However, boy was Lindsey an amazing customer associate. Because of her, I will definitely go back. I wish all their salespeople were like her!
