Our daughter and our son had gone to their very first 6 day sleep away camp and they loved it! For my daughter, we had picked watersports because the regular camp had been full and she had some small complains when she came back. Usually the schedule for camp Cullen would allow the kids to have water activities for at least half of the day but because of the extra 200 dollars that I payed she would always do water activities in the afternoon even though her cabin mates were doing land activities and she did water in the morning already. She felt that she should be able to choose if she wanted to do land or water in the afternoon so she would not have a whole day in water. That was the only thing she complained though, the bathrooms were clean and the cabin had AC. All counselors are really nice to them. From parents, we did not know they changed the photo solution. So we had been refreshing in the Waldo until Wednesday. Before talking to the staff and realized they changed to Bunk 1. Over all the camp was very fun according to our children, they loved their food too.

I went to this camp of the summer of 2018 for the first session. There was a few things that I want to point out, first in for most they don't come prepared when kid choose to go on the bus. It took me around 2 in a half hours just to board the bus, from where I live I would have already been at the camp!! Second thing, my bag full of my clothes got lost on the first day!!!! They finally found it around 11 o'clock at night. But I was so infuriated because I still had to take a shower, so I was wrapped in a towel waiting for some type of clothes, and when they finally gave me some they forgot a pair of undergarments. So I was forced to wear the ones I had on previously, no matter how gross that was I was already unconformable enough having to walk around in just a towel so I was NOT going to go commando. After all of that, it was fun even though you had armaments with the other girls because they didn't like something about you. But about four days later , I ended up having to be raised to the ER because I was having a severe allergic reaction to something unknown. Either poison oak or poison Ivy and my heart rate was at 183 bps and my oxygen was at 82. Not to mention that I had to used my inhaler 6 times before they took me to the nurse. The nurse was trying to get the attendants to get me to er imminently because this wasn't in her case level but they kept trying to put it off like I was fine. Until they finally gave it because I kept getting worse with a rash all over my left leg and left arm along with a little on my right leg and right arm. When we finally got to hospital we had to wait in the waiting room for SIX HOURS!!! when we finally got called it was already one in the morning, and all the hospital did was give me one pill!!!! We missed dinner so I got some McDonald's on the road, but when we got back and I finally got to bed I only slept for not even 6 hours. I was soooo tired!!! When we got to the water front I ended up sleeping on a log because I still had my sleeping meds in my system. But otherwise, I meet some amazing people that I love even with some hard...

Our family were fortunate to spend this mothers day weekend camp at camp cullen and the whole experience was out of this world, entering in the park with a welcome wave at the entrance which is way far from the main office, the lady at the reception received us with a pleasant smile and guided us for the sign up, there were snacks, coffee available and board games were there for the kids/family, then Jeremey (i guess he is the director of something over camp cullen) he got our luggage from the car and dropped us in our cabin that was very neat, spacious cabin with two baths and two toilets certainly awesome for a family. I personally feel the whole stay, from start to finish, canoeing, swimming, climbing, horseback riding, archery, rifle shooting (kids rifle), food (awesome and plenty), fireplaces and the supplies that they keep providing like crackers, chocolates, marshmallows etc. I feel bad not remembering other people name, every single one of the camp cullen team is out of this world, can you imagine they knew that we don't like non certain food and took care of that without even us asking them. i did not even had the horseback riding schedule and they were able to get us that without any trouble. i can keep writing about each one of their team, i wish i knew their name, they deserve a recognition for the awesome attitude, professionalism and courteous nature. In my opinion they have set the bar very high and i would always compare their service with other camps/entertainment facility and expect others to be like them.

I know words cannot be enough but Camp Cullen Team (Reception, Food, sports and activities, canoeing, climbing, horseback riding, archery, rifle, art work, transportation , i hope i did not miss anyone) you guys are awesome, keep up the great work.

Thanks you soooooooooooo much for providing us an opportunity to learn what is hospitality during this mothers day weekend.

God bless...

As a parent who depends on sending their kids to the YMCA Camp Cullen on a payment plan, which is submitted a year in advance, I am truly DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED with the staff at Camp Cullen. Don't get me wrong, the kids have a GREAT time here, but the back office is completely disorganized and has made this year's experience a nightmare for me. What I thought was bought and paid for through automatic billing which should have ended in May 2016 or slightly earlier, apparently was never processed. I received no e-mail, phone call, snail mail or even a notification when I dropped my kids off at camp. Instead, someone put in a notice into the Y system saying I owed almost $1K. The Y I attend for work out is not affiliated with YMCA Camp Cullen so they did not understand how the notice was showing up in the system and could not help me set up a payment plan since, as most parents, I don't have an extra $1K to spend in a month. Hence, the reason for auto billing. I called Camp Cullen on Monday, July 4th. The lady running the computer could not set up a payment plan for me and told me I had to talk with Mish the executive director. Mish called me and said the Houston office would have to override the system because apparently, since I show I am past due (reminder, I signed the kids up July of 2015 so they had a year to bill me) they could do nothing until the Houston office opened on Tuesday. I provided both my office and cell phone number to do my part in rectifying the situation. It is now Thursday and I have yet to receive a phone call. I just called Camp Cullen again and had to retell the whole story to someone different. To say I'm frustrated is too small a description. I will not sign my kids up again unless I have payment in full available, so that means there is a slim to no chance of ever coming back and the sad part is, the kids truly...
