Aces Defense — Local services in Pomfret

This review has been a long time coming and I really wanted to build up some solid experiences, comparisons to similar shops, and general firearms knowledge before posting this.

I can say that without a doubt Ace's Defense is an important asset for not only the individual person, but the community and state that we live in. Though it may seem like your typical mom and pop gun shop it isn't and theres far more going on at this establishment than the owners let on.

For starters, Steve and Jess are educators and professionals and they have built their buisness and its purpose on those principles, making our community safe. Not only is this establishment arming the community with the essential tools they need for personal defense and safety, but they also seek to arm the customer with knowledge and ethical firearms ownership, which is paramount when dealing with firearms ownership. Anyone who has received training at Ace's knows that the store functions as a school as well, and that Jess and Steve function more as instructors than salespeople. For anyone that is new or for anyone that wants to learn the responsibilities and proper management of firearms ownership, having the guidance of professionals like Steve and Jess is crucial and I would highly recommend this buisness for that alone.

However there is more, Steve and Jess will work for you. They're consistanly at the shop and working around the clock. The shop has been open well before hours of operation and they're usually there long after hours too. (For their sake though please stick to the posted hours of operation lol) Time and time again whether it be a request for a particular firearm, a custom holster order, my wife's fingerprinting, laser engraving, multi-state permit courses, or just plain advice and recommendations I can go to Ace's and receive a knowledgeable answer or service in a timely and efficient manner. There isn't a store in CT that provides the services that Ace's Defense provides to the degree of professionalism and qualtiy customer service as this store has provided me during my time as a gun owner.

Lastly, and placing a lot of emphasis on this next part, Ace's Defense is very active in our local community and communities abroad. In addition to making our community safer, they regularly promote local functions, small businesses, and will encourage all to do the same. In addition to that, they're always helping out with charitable causes whether it be here at home, or personally participating in charities abroad in South America. They're regularly raising funds, collecting goods, and working for our community and communities outside of this country that are truly less fortunate. I place a special value on this because I know that my purchases and donations that I've made at Ace's Defense have had a direct impact on those less fortunate through the actions and work that Steve and Jess have made here and while on their personal travels for charity abroad. Go to the shop, meet them, and see that for yourselves. Quite frankly, there are few businesses in CT in general, let alone gun shops, that are participating in charities and functions to the degree that Jess and Steve have and that is what sets them apart from most, if not all because of it.

Wife and I were up in that area of Ct visiting. I remembered I was getting low on a particular ammo; as we're going down the road I see the sign "Aces Defense". I hit the breaks (sorry honey) and swing into the lot. Best stop we ever made! Met some of the best people. Too make a long story short, purchased an additional home defense weapon that we've been talking about for some time now; signed up for courses to further educate us and had an all around great time in store. Jess and Steve, and son, all are very informative personalized people with incredible insight. Not only very knowledgeable in the firearms but just great people! Looking forward to taking upcoming classes and future purchases! Best gun...

The owners here are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I went in at first feeling very apprehensive however, Jess explained everything to me with great care and expertise, I was feeling at ease in no time. Where I went for my initial class, in my opinion, gave me no where near the amount of information that I needed and I received this in only one hour in the shop talking with Jess and Steve. They will go above and beyond for anyone. We have been back numerous times and have recommended friends and family since the first day we were there.
