Recently visited Watercure Farm Distillery, nestled at the historic entrance of Gwyn Careg Estate in Pomfret, CT. This charming spot is Connecticut’s first farm distillery, a title well-deserved. They fully embrace the ‘Farm to Flask’ philosophy, sourcing all ingredients locally, which is evident in the quality of their spirits. I had the pleasure of trying their Apple Spice Flavored Rum, a delightful blend perfect for the holiday season, mixed with apple cider and cinnamon. The warmth of the spices and the depth of the apple blend seamlessly for a cozy drink.
The owner, Daniel, shared fascinating insights about their process and the history of the location, adding a personal touch to the visit. His dedication to maintaining high standards using local resources is impressive. The distillery itself has a welcoming vibe, with direct access from the Air Line State Park Rail Trail, making it a fantastic pit stop for hikers.
Whether you're a spirits aficionado or a casual visitor, Watercure Farm Distillery offers a unique experience with a personal touch that makes each sip memorable. Highly...
Read morePhenomenal place with excellent location. Tons of parking. Excellent and knowledgeable staff. There prices are commensurate with this level of local Faire. This burgeoning distillery is a place that you can tour, learn, and talk one on one with an awesome staff. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Downside is that the town of Pomfret enforces some archaic blue laws concerning this type of business. Their cutoff limit for samples and cocktails is 2oz. Which makes it difficult to stretch the experience out. We did well but I'm insanely curious about the process. And there is language that prohibits live entertainment? This really limits their ability to entertain. I loved our time and experience, but in fairness to the general public I must prepare you for what it is. A cool and insightful look into how liquor is produced. We will be back but urge the town to take a step back and evaluate this...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped by this distillery by chance recently. Let me tell you what a great place to stop by! We had our bikes loaded up to go for a ride, and this distillery connects to the Airline trail so we were able to stop in after our ride and have a drink.
We did the sampler, which is highly recommended! I mean you can't really go wrong with the apple spiced rum, but there were so many interesting combination of liquors! All were top notch! We were able to pick up some Christmas gifts for the adults in our family.
Did I mention that is connected right up to the airline trail! What a beautiful location, beautiful distillery, and wonderful experience. ...
