Decent trail along the river with low to moderate traffic during the winter. I look forward to going back during the spring. This seems like a good spot to bird watch, fish, skateboard, and even sunbathe when the water is low. The water seemed calm with a slow moving current near the dam, however I didn't see any major warning signs to not play around near the actual dam itself ---and I just want to warn that although it seems inviting, DON'T go anywhere near it. I recently read a story of 13 people who were sucked into the pipes under a different dam, one of whom was a Mayor. I can't remember where, but I heard the story on Mr. Ballens YouTube channel. Read moreI've been walking all over the Arkansas river, it's very pretty and I've found lots of old vintage glass jars, but there is also quicksand. the deepest quicksand I experienced in the Arkansas river went up to my stomach and I am 5'5 so if you're walking the river when it's low if you have your dog keep it on a leash if you don't want your dog to disappear into the quicksand, if it's on a leash you can pull it out and you won't end up turning around and not seeing your dog anywhere because of the quicksand. same with kids, don't lose your kids in...
