Better to start at PC Animal Control. They are friendly, you get a room to meet the dog and the adoption fee takes care of chip, spay neuter and shots and maybe more. Drop in and go home with your new dog the same day and save a life. The humane society claims to get dogs into quickest and best available home yet 1 puppy I wanted to see two weeks ago was spoken for, is still there and is still spoken for. Another puppy in the same litter that I was allowed to see during my scheduled meet n greet was too distracted by the environment for me to get to know him. When I dropped in, after he was posted again, trying to get on the list to see him again I was accused of trying to do a drop in meet n greet, and I was blamed for him not getting a home the week I saw him and didn't go home with him. Based on the way they do things, he had no applicants when I saw him, not even me, so how does my meeting him put off others? Crazy. The lady's voice was raised the whole time I was in there. I said several times she wasn't hearing my questions. I don't think she ever did understand. She went on to accuse me of expecting to be put ahead of earlier applicants just because my application was already approved 2 weeks ago. I said nothing of the sort. I was just trying to figure out how I'm supposed to be able to quickly get in line to see a dog without "applying" again, which is the only process available online. According to what she said: I was the only person to see Saint 2 weeks ago and nobody has seen him since, and knowing I didn't even apply to see him, (nobody had so far that day 2 weeks ago)... something about their process isn't working. Saint and his sibling are puppies. They shouldn't be sitting around for weeks, not being seen at all by any applicants. BTW I couldn't see Saint again on Friday because the "1st available applicant" was to see him the following Wednesday. I asked if I could do a walk through and she said to come back in 45 min. Saint and sibling were in pens on outside so I pointed them out to my sister on the way to the car. That lady flew out the building and yelled at us to not look at the dogs. It makes them bark. I assure you, when I walked through on the inside 2 weeks ago, it made them bark. She and their whole process is just too controlling and IMHO that is not good for getting the dogs placed quickly. That same Friday I got a wonderful older pupper from the...

Read moreThe local Ponca City Humane Society is a great place if you are interested in saving a life and find that perfect addition to your family. The process is fairly simple with an application, which I am happy for, to ensure that these animals go to safe homes. I love that there are people in this community that truly want to help animals in need and have always had a pleasant experience with the dedicated employees that I have met. This is the only time you get to CHOOSE a family member and I will always go to them before I consider any other options. Whether you are looking for a cat or a dog make the right choice and you might just find your next...
