Lewis Orchards — Local services in Poolesville

A beautiful orchard and farm stand located right off Darnestown Road. My wife and I stumbled upon Lewis Orchards during a "driving around aimlessly to get out of the house COVID-19" trip. Such a pleasant surprise!

The farm itself is beautiful and super peaceful.

During the pandemic, they have some great safety precautions set up. They are limiting capacity of customers, as well wiping down all carts (before and after use), providing disposable gloves and requiring you to purchase whatever you touch. The employees are also available on standby to help pick through the produce. All the employees were very nice, patient and helpful.

They sell everything from some cheese, meats, baked goods, condiments, baking mixes to fresh produce. They have a great selection on cantaloupe, watermelon, berries, peaches, nectarines, onions, eggplants, squashes, swiss chard, peppers, kale, corn, root vegetables and some other items.

Super friendly staff and very covid friendly/conscious.

Everyone gets a pair of gloves. Even still the policy is you touch it you buy it. Masks are required, they have socially distant practices, they have fans going for air circulation and both the front and rear of the store have open garage doors so it's essentially like being outside. The CDC would be proud.

All that aside, The staff asked if I had any questions they made recommendations about apples and they were knowledgeable about flavor profiles and texture of each one. This is a super cute farm stand on the side of the road, and while we were on our honeymoon, We had to get some pumpkins to bring back home for holiday...

The younger staff members were very nice and pleasant; they seemed to be in their teens and were very sweet. However, one of the older staff members (an elderly woman with a ponytail and glasses) was extremely rude and dismissive, and she did not seem willing to help. When I asked where a certain item was, she very loudly said, “Oh, we don’t have that,” even though one of the younger staff members immediately corrected her and showed me that the item was available. Her tone and behavior came across as dismissive and, frankly, discriminatory. This is very disappointing, as you never know who is walking into your shop, and everyone deserves to be treated with respect…regardless of...
