Hello. I grew up going to the drive in. So many memories so much fun. I will have to say that I agree with other posters that mentioned the grumpy owner. My girls and grandkids came over from Everett, Auburn and Puyallup to celebrate a birthday. This is the 2nd time they have come over just for the drive in btw, as the Valley 6 in Aurburn closed. When you get them together they giggle and laugh and enjoy being sisters. But apparently if your having a good time in Mr. Wileys eyes that means you're drinking. They offered to have him come to the car and see that they did not have any alcohol. They were told that he knew and didn't have to look, he knew they were drinking. They bought coffee sodas and popcorn from the concession stand and when one of the girls asked for an ice water she was told that she'd have to pay $2.50 for it, she pointed out the water cups and asked why she couldn't just have the smaller water cup with ice, he told her that she could have water with no ice. She bought the ice water. When she went in later to use the restrooms she noticed another patron being given the smaller water cup with ice. She asked again if she could please get the ice water he told her no. Then he said if she had run out of ice for her drinking that was her problem. So Mr. Wiley just so you know, she has had Gastric bypass surgery and some times water and chewing on ice are the only things that calm her tummy. It would be a shame to lose business, especially when people are traveling just to come to the driv in! Maybe you should go back to my high-school days hire a few high-school kids to work the ticket booth and the Concession stand, then you could walk around the cars with a big old flashlight and bust the drinkers. Just like the old days. My uncle Ken busted me once upon a time and told my mom. đ. Small...
Read moreEver since I can remember, about 5 years old, my mother would take me and my lil brother to the local drive in, wherever that may be. Sometimes the venue had an actual playground area with swings a slide and such. I was very spoiled as a child when it came to the 'theatre experience'. Over the years these wonderful places have almost completely disappeared from the landscape of rural America, and definitely from any urban setting. I've been to places that had two, three even four screens going at once when the availability of using FM radio became the norm. I have had very few bad experiences in 50 years of attending outdoor theaters. Far less than any other public venue where folks get together and enjoy themselves for a few hours. The Wheel In is an excellent example of doing most everything right. The snack bar and selections, the service and the brisk way they get your grub to you and back to your vehicle cannot be ignored. Having a few rows of seats inside the main building is a stroke of genius in my opinion. Cleaner than to be expected bathrooms is always a plus for me and my kids, who are now adults bringing their own children to the venue. They keep a pretty tight lid on 'activity' within the place. Very little loud or obnoxious drunks or out of control laughter from the stoners is good too. All in all, my gratitude is boundless for this treasure and I hope to be going again this...
Read moreReally don't like leaving bad reviews on anyone especially local owned businesses but best thing if you go to this drive in theater is to not go to the concession stand and waste your money. Not sure what system they have for money counting but writing down the order on a paper unable to add up everything correctly multiple times and and overcharging more than once for pizza and two sodas. We were the first customers of the night and were told to wait 20 mins for our pizza. We also had a footlong hotdog cheeseburger and 2 sodas. Came back 15 mins later and neither of the people working the concession stand could remember our order lost the paper with the order printed out and provided just the pizza and burger. Had to ask for our soda and hot dog to which the footlong was given to another customer. The employee claimed we had gotten our order when we were told to wait 20 mins and come back for everything. Left without watching the movie completely ruined the good ol fashioned drive in experience. I've gone to drive ins since I was a kid and never had an...
