My attempts to send an elderly family member money through WU were of no avail at this DG. Staff told us that maybe the "phone number" may be wrong. I believe they were referring to the tracking number as you do Not need the senders phone number to pick up Western Union money. I was told I would need to go to another Dollar General Store to send it. When I inquired if I could do so online I was told to go to the "Dollar General Western Union App" this app does not exist. There is however a plain Western Union App which you not now, nor has it ever, asked for location information but, only for country and state. Can you Only pick up your money from everywhere else but Dollar General without confirmation? I thought I already knew but the Actual Western Union did I tell me I could pick it up from Any location.. anywhere. I did read something about the payee having to pre confirm pick up at DG online. If this is Required by DG and obviously by DG only..My family member should have been told this. Even after this coming up on the DG (Not the WU )site I still assumed this to be optional ? Since this is Not required to receive WU anywhere else? I've never had to "pre-approve" online to pick up $ from WU. This was not mentioned on the Western Union site anywhere nor can you chose an exact location with WU when sending. Never could. Only Country and State are asked. You then receive a tracking number for the receiver.. Tracking number, ID, Name and amount is their confirmation. I've never had to do anything online to pick up money through WU. Not everyone has a mobile or knows how to use the internet... So I guess No money for those people at the DG?? This limits WU customers if they also must get online somewhere to confirm they're coming to get their cash previous to doing so. It just makes very little sense because not only is this inconvenient but, it's also not required at any other WU locations. I mean, wouldn't customers (especially the elderly) go to those other places first then? The places that they don't need to confirm online? I don't get it. This is very discriminatory against elderly and those without mobile...
Read moreSo I just went to this store for the first time to get balloons filled. I bought them online and brought them into the store ( I know nothing is guaranteed when you do this). The girl working there tonight, her name was Brittany was working with what appeared to be a newer staff. So Brittany started filling the one balloon and blew it in half. I'm was upset but even MORE upset that she was LAUGHING and didn't even say sorry one time to me. She handed the other 4 balloons to the newer staff who said to me "I've never done this before",(however SHE did say sorry to me). I asked for a refund and left. I will not be going back to this store ever again. I can not believe this is how they treat...
