Designer Stone Company - Granite & Quartz Countertops — Local services in Port Washington

I wish I could choose 0 stars. Designer Stone installed our quartz countertops and left us with a mess. After the first install, there were 7 DEEP scratches in the quartz, the seams were noticeable across the room, and the calking looked like our 4 year old did it. We called them and they were gracious enough to come and look at them. The tried to hide the seams a bit, worked on some of the scratches, but the calking was not touched. They decided to bring in a "quartz specialist" to try to get the scratches out. On their third trip, the specialist came and they got most of the scratches out but made the calking even worse. We told them we wanted the calking all removed and redone and the remaining scratches removed. On their 4th trip, they unsuccessfully worked on the calking and left the large round scratch still on the countertops. After FOUR attempts, we were done. We called them and wanted to schedule an appointment to have the tops removed- we paid for NEW countertops, not countertops with scratches and calking that was a mess. The wanted to bring in another specialist, and we refused. The specialist was not going to fix the calking. They tried to say the calking was "beautiful". See pictures below- I would hate to think this is what their "beautiful" installs look like. We were so happy with our total experience. Our first visit, Georgia was incredibly knowledgeable about the products they offered. She led us on a tour of the variety choices they had for granite. She was upfront about concerns with certain pieces. We found several we really liked but decided to go to Solon, Ohio where one of their suppliers is located. We found another piece we decided on. While there, they had done the backsplash made from the same granite piece. Loved it. Designer Stone took care of the shipment. They kept appointments. The gentlemen who came to the house were thorough and particular. We received layouts of the pieces of the countertop and backsplashes. This is when the customer has the opportunity to view and provide feedback regarding seams. They were open to finishing the ends of the backsplash I found on the internet. After placing the countertops, they remeasured for the backsplash. They sincerely wanted a nice finished product. That’s exactly what we got. We couldn’t be happier. Great people at Designer Stone! Designer stone was great. I was looking at laminate for counter tops in my remodeled kitchen, because I knew I couldn't afford Granite. Well after checking around, we took a chance and drove to Port Washington. The people that work there was great. They walked us around the shop and we found a piece that we both loved. We talked to Heather about the cost and after picking edging and size, we found out that it was cheaper to get the Granite instead. The gentlemen that came to install it was very professional. They gave me a time of arrival and were on time. I asked them lots of questions and they answered them all. Not even complaining that I may be bothering them.
