Tolleston Dunes Trail — Local services in Portage

It's a nice hike off the beach. If you ever get a chance or desire to see the Woodcocks in their mating dance this is a great place for it. Just up the main trail past the parking lot.

The rest of the hike is through oak savannah, which is, well like a bunch of oaks in sand dunes. The trail doesn't take you close to any of the few ponds, but it is a great place to stretch the legs away from the crowded trails and gives you an idea of how far Lake Michigan extended...

3 stars because the bugs were awful. I applied buy spray twice but nothing seemed to help. They were all over me the entire time. But a pretty walking trail with a long and short loop. I don’t know if the bugs are always that bad, or if it was just the time...
