2023 UPDATE: and then there were 3 stars. I didn't feel right going any lower than 3 because the quality of the chocolate itself is great. HOWEVER, the prices are crazy! Don't get me wrong, I'm not the type of person who expects prices to stay the same forever. And I realize that inflation is happening. But still, the big annual Easter sale was very disappointing. In years past the sale prices were like a 70% discount. Not the case this year. And listen to this - my aunt got boxes of the Peanut Butter Melt-Aways, but she didn't notice at the time that the pound weight that is normally printed on the box was colored over with sharpie. Imagine her shock when she got home and saw the boxes were only half full! Yet the prices were more than last year. Then to make it worse, they had no peanut butter flavor, just chocolate. Yes, prices were listed as always. But it didn't register to any of us that the prices were so much higher than ever before. We checked out with the same amount of chocolate we get every year, only with a MUCH HIGHER price. We all said this will be our last...

I grew up near Char-Val -and to this day it’s some of the best chocolate I’ve had. A few years ago, a friend gave my husband and I some peanut butter rolls. For me, it was complete nostalgic heaven… as for my husband, he had never had Char-Val before and nearly 5 years later he STILL talks about the peanut butter rolls. This place is such a hidden gem. I don’t typically go to candy stores or chocolate stores. I ended up at char-Val candies by somewhat of an accident.
