Dotterer Equipment Inc — Local services in Porter Township

I recently purchased a new atv from this establishment and within 2 months began having an issue with the clutch engagement. I brought it back and asked that they look at it. I went to pick it up and was told the bill was $169.00. I didn't know why it was so much since the unit came with a one year warranty,they told me they took the unit apart and found some dirt inside the belt drive and that they cleaned it out and test drive it and that everything was fine. I drove it from their garage door to my trailer to load it and it still had the same problem that I had them look at it for. I told the lady at the counter and she informed me the problem was my oversized tires ....wich is not correct because the problem began before the tires were put on. I called suzuki and they informed me that my 31 inch tires voided my warranty and any work that the service center did would not be covered by the warranty. My tires are 26 inch not 31 and when I confronted the service dept about the mistake they replied "I noticed that after I double checked". I requested they call suzuki and explain the mistake which they refused to do........So in a nutshell they lied about my machine and got my warranty voided,would not admit to their mistake and make it right and took $169 of my money and did absolutely nothing .........machine is still broke,I have no warranty and I'm out $169..........bad bad bad overall experience and certainly will not be going back or referring anyone...

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service at Dotterer’s. It was our first time ever in the store and when we walked to the front desk and told the man what we were looking for he replied with “I can’t help you with that, you’ll have to go back to sales.” Keep in mind that we have never stepped foot in the building and had no idea where “sales” was. We walked back to the large part of the building and made eye contact with two males sitting in an office. They looked up, and then continued back with their conversation and never asked if we needed help. We wandered around the warehouse and found what we were looking for. After rolling the trailer by ourselves to the front desk a man finally walked out and asked if we found what we were looking for. The girl behind the counter was sitting on a computer and took minutes to even look up and acknowledge us. She did not speak and was unfriendly during the entire transaction. We then rolled the trailer out the doors without any help from an associate and loaded in into our truck. I am extremely displeased with my experience at Dotterer Equipment. I brought my motorcycle in for a state inspection and an oil change. I was charged $131.76. The drive chain was also adjusted and lubed. Last year, I received the same services minus the chain adjustment and lube and I was charged $74.63. I do not understand the reason why labor was only $28.20 last year, and $58.50 this year with only a $5 increase in labor rates. On a positive note, the staff is very friendly and nice.
