A wonderful positive experience buying a new motorcycle! I believe any negative reviews I read at first were about used motorcycles whose condition is very subjective to people. Also each salesperson is different. I was at a Yahama demo event in South NJ and really enjoyed riding a Yamaha Stryker Bullet Cowl. The dealership down in south jersey did not have one. Up where I live, in North Eastern New Jersey, there literally are no Yamaha dealers. One local dealer in Ramsey closed years ago. OK, so I got on cycletrader. com to look around. Track and Trail were literally many thousands of dollars lower for this new bike than anyone in the tri state, actually any dealer anywhere near 500 miles from my home. There was even a big gap between their price and the 2nd cheapest. Thousands less. How can that be? It was hard for me to believe. I called and spoke to Austin. I asked him straight out, is this price real? Get serious, you are a far drive from me here. He assured me. It was new in the box. They have huge inventory and their business model is to sell quantity, making small on each bike, not trying to make high markups on small volume like most small dealers. He told me of the small fees, some $370 in total for everything, including paperwork, and that was it. I still was in disbelief. I was also leary about buying out of state and having to register myself. I own 2 other motorcyles, both Harleys from a local dealer. He then emailed me the full invoice. He asked for no down payment. If I liked it, that was my invoice. OK wow, so I decided to make the long drive. I got there, he said hello, other customers were there. Sure enough it is a large dealership with lots of inventory. He handed me the keys, and said try it. I took it for a short drive. It was perfect. I handed him a personal check, he wrote out the paperwork, and I was out of there in 90 minutes. He helped me put the bike on my trailer. All my questions were answered. Austin could not have been any nicer. I only spoke to him and asked a mechanic a few questions. The next day I went into my local NJ motor vehicles office with Austin's paperwork. I paid NJ their sales tax. All was absolutely fine and I walked out with a NJ title and plate. I am over 50 and it was the best experience I have ever had buying anything of this type of amount. I would highly advise you speak to Austin and...
Read moreNever had a good experience with them. Not to say they've been absolutely horrible, but if there's a chance to screw you they will take it. What I mean by that is when my buddy bought his honda nc700 I took it out to a parking lot with him for practice and he dropped it. No big deal, we just replaced the clutch lever and bent back the shift lever... good to go. Well after about a month of riding his bike's clutch starts slipping which shouldn't happen until 80k plus miles. So he takes it in for warranty repairs and they say it's not covered under warranty because the aftermarket clutch levers could have damaged the clutch, effectively voiding the warranty. Anyone with an ounce of motorcycle knowledge knows that's a load of BS and while it technically does void Honda's warranty they could've helped him out knowing it's BS and told him to install the oem levers back on before trying to get repairs done.
Myself personally, I've had them put small nicks in my rim when they replaced my tire. Then I had my bike fail inspection due to low tread on the front tire, and missing chain guard. The low tread front tire I can understand, but you know he could have immediately let me know of the missing chain guard and had me return with it (it was in my garage), and I would have been happy to have them replace the front tire. Instead, my options were to replace the front tire, and then return another time with the chain guard to pass inspection, which I would have had to pay another $35 for another inspection. To give you an idea about the condition of my bike, I went to NJMP thunderbolt about a week later and raced around that track at 100+ mph, and tech inspection (which is much more strict than PA inspections) didn't even bat an eye at my bike.
Overall I hated dealing with the workers there, and now I just take a ride down to unlimited cycle center where the workers are nice, move with a purpose, and go above and beyond to ensure things get...
Read moreWas looking for a leftover model Honda for my first motorcycle. After receiving quotes from dozens of other dealers, none could touch the out the door pricing I was quoted from Track N Trail (competitive base price, and minimal dealer fees). Don't expect a quick response to your email or web inquiries, but get someone on the phone and you'll be taken care of.
I drove up from 3 hours away on a Saturday morning and Austin had the bikes pulled out with the keys in the ignition. Bikes were in perfect shape as advertised and I was able to do a quick inspection and sit on the bikes on arrival. After checking my motorcycle license, he threw a license plate on the first bike and told me where to go for a test drive.
NOTE TO NEW RIDERS: This is not the best location for "a nice easy ride" as you'll have to merge directly into highway traffic and cross multiple intersections almost immediately.
After two test rides, and a quick comparison of features and specs, I made my decision. We went into the office, Austin wrote up the paperwork - exactly as quoted via phone/email - and the transaction was quick and painless. He helped secure the bike on the trailer and we were on our way home.
This place isn't somewhere you'll go for the atmosphere or a traditional "dealership experience" but if you want a great bike at a great price without playing games, Track N Trail is as...
