Called in advance and asked what the best way to have 6 people out was. We were trying to get our wives lol into playing and it was their first time. They explain they had a busy schedule and couldnât accommodate a 6some so we decided two of our wives would ride one would play. Paid the extra cart fee. Guy at the desk was super helpful and nice. Bob I believe was his name.
Get there, pay, hit the range, and the marshal starts being somewhat confrontational from the start. I spoke to the group behind us, saying we were a foursome with a new girl who had never played and weâd probably be slow. To please play through when theyâd like. They mentioned that they were okay, but that the marshal had given them a hard time a week before because theyâd played with a 12 year old and the marshal kept hounding them to play faster.
Fast forward 9 holes and the group Behind us hadnât waited hardly at all. We were playing fast enough that we were waiting at multiple tee boxes because of the foursome in front of us, who were playing a normal pace, like us, who finished 9 in 2:15.
Went to the snack bar and spent 135$ on snacks to come out to the marshal telling us we need to play faster that we had to catch up and weâre taking to long. Meanwhile the group behind us was still on the green of 9, weâd already paid, eaten hotdogs, etc and they still werenât done with 9, yet the handlebar mustache marshal and the other fellah, were so inclined to hurry us along saying we needed to catch up.
So we hit, had a couple good shots, and proceeded onto the back. The marshal met us at the green of hole 11, 12, 13, and 14. Sitting at the green staring us down, not speaking a word even when spoken to. It wasnât until I waved at him on 14 that he even acknowledged that heâd been intimidating us into playing faster. But instead of taking the chance to ask us to skip a hole, or let a group play through, he drove off. (At no point was a group behind us waiting on the tee box, Not a single time) proceed to 16 where he waited for us to be putting when he approached the women of the group and told them ânext time yâall come, wait until later in the day so you donât have to deal with meâ
Fast forward to 18, still nobody waiting on us, weâd played the hole are are parked in the firld(deep rough) beyond the green(we arenât great at golf) and he approaches the women again, after weâd walked onto the green. We saw him waiting for us to walk away before he drove up, I walked back and asked what he needed. We were on 18, putting, seemingly how could he have anything left to say. He said ânot that youâll care, but you shouldnât have your cart parked thereâ
We got into it after that. Needless to say we wonât be back. Course was in great shape cart girl Haley was great. Pro shop bob was great. That marshal ruined my wifeâs first ever round of golf, we wonât be back. Ever. 350$ from 1 round of golf at a off the beaten path golf course that should be appreciative of the business....
Read moreA Friend of mine and myself played Mill Quarter the 1st time about 10 months ago and just recently remembered I forgot to leave my personal review so o thought I would do so now . Well Let me tell you Something, DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR. As a Very Good Golfer 3 things I always look for in a Course are these (1) A Challenging Layout (2) Impressive Employees and (3) Rate that is Fair to the Course. Well , I had heard it was a Goat Track, Employees Were rude and they should PAY YOU to play there . I have 1 Question WHAT FRIGGIN COURSE WERE THEY AT ?. When I walked into the Club House I was Treated Like one of the Guys, The Gentleman behind the Counter treated me like He had known me for the Last 30 years , That Absolutely Blew me away . I Had a Friend With Me and He was Bugeyed as well. Well once they found out We were first timers I had no idea that it was possible to be Nicer but I be Damned if they weren't, Telling us where water could be gotten, Hidden trouble, To take our time and Relax and Enjoy...WOW . Then they Layout, One of the Few courses I have been at that I don't care if you are a +5 or 30 handicap they have a Tee Box for you and a Skill to match your own. The Gentlemen Cutting Grass or working Wouldn't just stop cutting, No, They in Most Cases Turned the Machines OFF, You Thought you had gone Deaf, You actually Had a QUITE RELAXING Round of Golf. I Had a Tee Time Golf Pass which is Good in 5 States which saves me a Ton of Money, But I was playing during the Weekday and even if I hadn't the Rates were So Reasonably affordable it was almost Stealing . I can't Say what it was Like in the past but I can assure it wasn't a one time thing as we have come back on Several occasions and we are Happy to report that We got the same treatment and we are nobody special and not inspectors sent in to critique golf courses without them knowing it . Do yourself a Favor and play for the first time, And if you had problems in the past You owe it to yourself to give them...
Read moreFirst it started with a warm welcome from the people inside. The Gentleman behind the Counter couldn't have been nicer, This also extended to the lady at the snack bar when we made our turn after 9. I have read some comments that were not very nice and I had not been to MQ in almost 20 years since I live in Ashland. I have been to MQ 2 times in the past 3 weeks and all I can say is that the people that wrote those comments had to have fallen in to 1 of 2 categories.
