My first experience I had there was really good I loved the Hygienist and Dentist I saw. I was given my treatment plan, and had a lot of cavities needing fills along with root canals needing to be done from not having dental insurance for a while sadly. So the hygienist informed me that appointments can be hard sometimes to schedule in, and not to let the front desk put me on the back burner since I had a lot of work needing to be done and she knew my dental coverage wasnât long being on pregnancy Medicaid needing it done asap before the baby gets here too. Well my next visit the red haired girl at the front desk (not sure her name) was incredibly rude to me after my appointment when I tried scheduling for my next appointment. I was one of their last appointments for the day, and it seemed like she just wanted me out of there when speaking to me, and kept giving me a death glare through the computer refusing to even look at me basically (I wish I was exaggerating, but Iâm not thatâs how rude she was, and how she was speaking to me.) I told her my situation about needing help as soon as possible since my dental coverage only lasted so long after pregnancy since Iâm on Medicaid that I would take whatever appointments I could since it was urgent from me not having dental coverage for so long and finally being able to be seen by a dentist. She kept arguing with me about how long my coverage lasted that it wasnât something I should worry about refusing to schedule me. (My due date is approaching slowly. and I told her I only have 60 days postpartum dental coverage with Medicaid) and she kept saying âCovid changed it till October so thereâs months of coverageâ and I kindly told her that my insurance provider told me different, and that Iâm on a time limit needing to just be seen whenever the closest date was if possible. She wouldnât listen, and proceeded to just argue about Medicaidâs policy when what she was referencing has been over. She was adamant though about âmy extended dental coverageâ So thatâs super harmful to tell someone an old policy refusing to listen to them about their dental coverage or even accept that shes human that she may be wrong not being up to date and help someone who really honestly needed the help. Only so many dentists will see you with pregnancy Medicaid, and I only know of two dentists who accept Medicaid for my root canals that need to be done which is Mobile Bay and a dentist all the way in Foley. The super young receptionist beside her randomly chimes in too agreeing with her both being misinformed arguing with me. I understand on her end being annoyed/tired probably wanting to be home, or being frustrated with scheduling not being open trying to fit someone in where it can be tricky with peoples scheduleâs, but being mean and having someone leave without an appointment is uncalled for. After standing there waiting for her to put me on the schedule after trying to explain things she just says âIâll give you a call and let you knowâ knowing Iâm on the back burner having to leave unhappy from not being helped. I tell her âokay have a nice dayâ despite being disappointed and frustrated knowing she didnât know what she was talking about, and thinking about how rude it was that I left with many visits needing to be done. I remained nice the whole time thinking maybe she had a bad day bc you never know what someone goes through honestly, well she ignored me then too when trying to just tell her to have a nice day, and through out our entire interaction still never looked at me glaring at the computer making me feel rushed out the office. I had to call back up there to speak to a nicer receptionist the next day who would actually help and put me on the schedule. So my experience wasnât bad other than scheduling being nearly impossible to be worked in, and some of the young rude front staff up there who clearly didnât grow up out of a Highschool mentality. I was taken back by just the complete lack of empathy or human response really. I exhibited no kindness or...
Read moreToday I showed up for a scheduled appointment and was told that because they did not speak with me, my appointment was canceled. When appointments are scheduled 6 months out, I do believe some patients need a reminder but not all patients need a reminder. If appointments must be confirmed, the voice-mail and emails should state that information.
After checking my email today, the 2 emails from Mobile Bay Dental stated the emails were a reminder. Neither emails had a date or time listed for my appointment. The email had no greeting. The first paragraph of the emails stated the following: Failure to cancel or reschedule your appointment without a 24-hour notice will result in a $25 fee.
I did not cancel the appointment nor reschedule the appointment because I was planning on being at this appointment. Had the email stated I must confirm, I would have, but it did not. I showed up before my appointment time. The receptionist asked me for my name, asked me was the phone number she called out a good number, I said yes. She said you didn't take our call and said hold on a minute while she went to ask someone something. She returned and asked would I like to reschedule because my appointment was canceled because I did not confirm my appointment. I responded no. I also asked would I be charged, she said no.
There was no voicemail and the email should have stated the appointment MUST be confirmed. Again, everyone does not forget appointments.
Since the service was not the best for my first visit, the second visit confirmed that this was not the dental office for me. I won't be going back.
I suggest Mobile Bay Dental revisit how email messages are disseminated to customers because the email did not list the date of my appointment, time of my appointment, nor did it state the appointment MUST be confirmed. The email basically seemed to care more about charging a customer for failing to cancel or rescheduling an appointment. I showed up for a scheduled appointment on time (I was early). This was an absolute waste of...
Read moreAll I needed was a refill on my daughters contact prescription. I called the Semmes location which is where we have always gone. Apparently I got the new girl at the front desk. She told me I had to go to the Bel Air office, that the doctor had moved locations so I had to get my prescriptions there. Ok. I was already halfway home to Semmes, so I tried calling the Bel Air office, and they never answered the phone. So I turned around and drove back to Bel Air mall to walk in only to be told they have no record of my daughterâs prescription, itâs still at the Semmes location. She took my name and phone number and said she would look into it and let me know what she found out. I drive back home and at 10 minutes till five before they close, I still havenât heard anything so I called the Semmes location again. I get the same new girl, give her my daughters information. This time she has some trouble with the computer and tells me that my daughter doesnât have a prescription for contacts. By this time Iâm home and I go get the paper that was printed out when she had her eye exam and give the lady the information on it. She finally finds it in their system and tells me theyâll have to order them. I knew they would have to do that anyway from past experience. So she proceeds to take my payment information over the phone but doesnât know how to work the credit card machine. She cuts me off about four times and I have to start over because she messed up. She finally got all my information and the contacts were ordered. At about 10 minutes after five Kayla from the Bel Air office called and apologized for not being able to resolve this today but said she would make it her first priority tomorrow morning. I appreciated that very much and let her know that I had already got it taken care of and I will be picking them up when they came in at the Semmes location like I always have done in the past. Kayla was very nice. The other girl probably needs some more training so she doesnât send anybody else on a wild...
