I attend this school online and have had excellent experiences with my instructors and counselor. Communication has been great. I love compututor, I probably spelled it wrong but it's an amazing idea and so helpful. I don't give this school 5 stars because of the staff. Not every experience has been bad but the bad outnumbers the good at this point. Recently, a staff member rolled her eyes at me when I asked where a room was located. She wasn't busy, I saw her screen as I approached. Furthermore, it should've been apparent that I had not seen the room because I came up from behind her. She worked in disability services so Lord help them if that's her normal conduct. I have been shushed, ignored, talked over, spoken down to, etc by staff members at this school. I don't know how this level of unprofessional conduct can happen at a school. I know that working with the public is demanding and wears you out, I've been there, but this is atrocious. I do my very best to avoid going to the school. Communicating via email is only slightly better. Specific questions get specific answers if you skip ahead and ask them to people with some authority otherwise they answer the questions they either know the answer to or it gets ignored. I have had experiences where staff were professional and it's like a breath of fresh air. Some are lighthearted and kind some are polite and direct but most importantly they're...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI waited before writing this review because I hate writing negative reviews. This school parades about them being rated the #1 community college but waketech has alot of changes to make. I wonder who did they ask to get that rating, did they ask all the students or what? Blackboard system has many technical problems, wrong information in student accts regarding classes, many times issues with testings not opening and instructors not giving proper grading or credit. And a huge one is the response times from the college system: financial aid, and instructors getting back to you etc, takes days, weeks, if at all, to get back a response, I sent a email to dean of financial aid weeks ago and its very important of funding and classes adding or dropping which requires attention that shouldnt be delayed. I said let.me.go on campus spoke to Dean of student services, she didn't get back to me as she said she would..it's like they have all these ppl in roles but no ones handling anything. It definitely makes the student experience more difficult where I keep hearing they have systems in place to make it easier for students to be successful. I'm my case it has made it harder, stressful, and difficult. My question: have you done thorough testing on the systems you have in place? I can tell you many of them are not working and wtcc is not the best #1 community college,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will refrain from us my academic experience, positives and negatives in this review because I believe that is subjective. My previous review was rated two stars due to the horrific parking situation. With the completion and opening of walkway bridges from the two parking decks near Building F, it is no longer a very long walk to the classes should you use the decks. This eliminates the issue of fighting for a parking space that is seen at the parking lots directly adjacent to the buildings. You simply no longer have to park there. With this massive parking issue mainly resolved, my rating can be realistically much higher. The buildings are extremely well built and beautiful, with truly modern designs. The classrooms are well designed for the most part. One notable negative within the buildings is each elevator for each building is either incredibly slow, or atrociously slow. I highly recommend just using the stairs. Each building has handicap access and handicap parking. Each building is environmentally friendly: LEED-certified, which is a first in the nation. This campus is empirically better than Southern Wake Campus (previously referred to as Main Campus), and is overall very impressive for a...
