And the top-rated haunt for 2019.
Notes: I want to say that I am not associated with any professional review team! The scoring is used off of personal experience I just am really enthusiastic about haunt season. We came out tonight at the beginning of haunt season which from experience- haunt experiences change from the beginning, middle, and end of the of season.
Costuming Score: 6/10 Some of the character Illusion was thrown off due to some small things that could be easily fixable. (colorful scrunchies on wrists, clean un-scuffed shoes on bloody dirty characters etc.) I also didnāt understand why there was a rabbit holding a carrot. While the costume would be good for an easter event It didnāt match any theme inside or outside of the haunt. Customer Service: 9/10 Upon arrival we noticed that there was a medical emergency where a gentleman was trying to rush into the haunt due to his type two diabetic relative having low levels. On the security side of things, he was stopped immediately until he explained the situation and they rushed him inside to find his relative to help. It was great to see the urgency and professionalism of the entire team as they tried to help him get to his relative as soon as possible and they took him immediately. You can tell that they knew how to respond in emergency situations. Tonight was especially windy. There was a part of the roof that seemed like it was going to fly away, and it kept banging loudly each time the wind would pick up. I noticed that a lot of the guests in line were extremely nervous about it. The actors took the initiative to go and find the owner who came out immediately and fixed the roof to make it safe for everybody. Which put everybody in line at ease.
Immersion: 5.7/10 The walk up to the building was really quiet and uneventful. There were two actors just standing up front who didnāt interact with anybody and I feel like while waiting in line a lot of actors broke character. While they were friendly, I was a bit disappointed I enjoyed conversing with the clown with yellow hair in the line as we talked about the wind and his long blond hair and how majestic the wind was in our hair. ( Excluding the actors breaking character for the medical emergency and the safety concern with the roof the Immersion.) The lower score actually comes from inside the haunt. To our disappointment a lot of the actors didnāt even attempt to scare us. As soon as we walked past some of the actors then they would try to jump out of the darkness and just scream or āRawr!ā in your face. Special FX:7.5/10 A lot of the scares came from the sudden sounds and jump scares. The Pin lights, the car horns, and the fog were all perfect. The Sets were very well put together and I was very impressed with how detailed the majority of the sets were. The Old Diner was absolutely amazing. the detail and the ambiance in there was extremely eerie and I wish that I could just walk back in there and look around for even longer.
Entertainment and Value: 7/10 Iād like to mention again that it is the beginning of the haunt season. So, I would like to believe that more actors will be joining the attraction later in the season. There is a lot of potential at Necrosis Haunted House and While they have used the space very efficiently . I enjoyed the monologue from the redneck area and the area around the hotel. I would like to see actors not breaking character so often. But I also did see some of the actors giving us a personal experience that we won't be forgetting. I look forward to coming back.
Overall 35.2/50 Walk through...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStill one of the best haunts in the state! This season they amped up the decor and theming out in their midway! Tons of red lights gave the building an eerie supernatural glow and the addition of several different photo ops really started building the entertainment and atmosphere levels from the moment we stepped into their outside lot. Props for having one of those 12ft tall skeletons! While we waited in line we had several different characters entertaining and keeping us on our toes, which helped waiting in line fly by. From grungy clowns to a sewer rat, to a ice cream chihuahua? Not sure what Sprinkles was but we loved him all the same! They honestly seemed to have it all! It's intense right from the beginning of the show and we never seemed to get a break from being bombarded by actors and being scared. I dont think I have ever screamed that much in my entire life. You serious never know where someone is going to jump out from! Amazing atmosphere and stunning sets, animatronics, fantastuc actors and amazingly detailed props keep you very immersed in their little world of horror they have created. It has a great variety of horror themes from a war torn post apocalyptic military base, to a voodoo riddled swamp, to a haunted hotel full of cultists, to an attic of creepy dolls, and finishing it off with a super intense and rather unsettling ending that had us running out of the exit. Definitely worth the ticket prices, VIP might be worth it just judging from the long wait (about 30 minutes) in line. This place is definitely still a yearly spooky season stop for us! I recommend it anyone looking for a true full night of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSO FUN. the actors were phenomenal in scaring us around every corner, even following us too. the props, lighting, mechanical parts and everything was just SO WELL DONE. big kudos to the 4 owners of this attraction, I can tell they put their everything into it. i came with 3 other UIUC friends looking to have a spook and a good time, and we all came out super satisfied. definitely get there right as it opens to avoid long waits. our ticket was for 7:30 and we arrived at 8pm. we entered the house at around 9pm. when we were leaving, the lines were already wrapping all the way around!! glad we beat the rush. the owners and staff at the concession booths were super friendly too, and even kept my bag for me since no bags allowed inside. whole thing was 15 minutes to walk through. 10/10 recommend, although should be 16+ tbh. there were lots of...
