The mountain trail is a real adventure. Packing some bug spray is definitely a must, especially with those yellow jackets around. Keeping the trails clean is always a good idea, so kudos for mentioning that the views at the lookout are worth the effort of the climb and insect encounters. Remember to stay safe and enjoy the hike!

The view was great but the hike up... my good lord it was a hard one. If you take the shortcut atleast. If you dont hike often I'd suggest following the road up.

Fire Tower Camp was incredible. The treehouse was way cooler than I even expected - honestly better than the photos! Billy is an amazing host who truly goes above and beyond. He was super attentive to everything I needed and even took me on a pontoon boat ride across the lake for dinner, which made the stay unforgettable. Such a peaceful, one-of-a-kind getaway. Very nice hike here from the xcountry ski center on July 4th! Beautiful day, which was partly cloudy and mid 60s. Many flowers in bloom and with rain recently, no dust! Looks like a beautiful place to rent and overnight, especially on July 4th! No one was there when we visited about noon. We saw maybe 12 people on the hike, which was less than expected. We hiked up and reserved the lookout tower overnight. Really cool experience! I wish I'd known how much "stuff" was in the Lookout, that would've lightened our load without bringing a cooking pot, cups, utensils, etc. Our 5 and 7-year-olds can do the hike with no trouble. Sunset and full moon rising were really great...
