Came here after a disastrous day at Lake Shasta and made everything better! Whiskeytown Lake is clear, clean, and beautiful and this beach was an awesome spot on a hot day. There is a store where you can get snacks and drinks and water toys, and I think you can rent paddleboards as well. We came in the evening just as the store was about to close, but the staff person working there was so nice and friendly and stayed open a bit longer so that we could get some ice cream. The beach wasn't too crowded when we went and the lake was a bit cold but still tolerable, and we were able to bring our own inner tubes to float in. Read moreWhat a beautiful lake! We are from Southern Oregon and took a weekend trip to visit Redding for the first time. After hearing and seeing photos of the lake we had to check it out, and are so glad that we did! The water was perfect temperature, almost like bath water, and very clean. A store that sells snack and beach gear (was closed when we went 9.7.24 I’m guessing out of season) Our kids (ages 12 and 5) had the best time! It was such a perfect way to cool off after a super hot day at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park. We will definitely be back,...

If you have extra cars, you have to park on the overflow lot which is a 10 minute walk down a hill so walking back up on the heat is terrible. There's also no shade in any of the spaces so we couldn't even sit at our space until the sun started to set and the only privacy you have are a couple bare bushes but the people are still only about 20 feet away from you. Just awkward to be having private conversations and making eye contact...
