Update: 100% of the Spruce are dead. Pines are okay. So don’t blame me for them dying.
Don’t buy trees without a warranty. And given How he was unwilling to deal with me, I strongly urge not to buy here.
Original: Sorry to give a low rating, but I tried to have my dying Black Hills Spruce mitigated by the owner, and he refused. I had 5-7 BH hand planted by Helsel and they are all dying. The first one looked like it was dying the day after it was planted. I will not be buying more from here, rather from someone that provides some warranty. You should get references and a warranty and not trust a 20% fallout rate. My fallout rate is like 80%. By the way, he never even mentioned that I should expect a 20% death rate. I was told that there's no warranty for trees since he doesn't know if they were properly watered. Well I have thousands of dollars worth of spruce trees on our property and his are the only trees that didn't survive the winter. Don't be fooled by his cheap prices. Last year We bought 12 trees from them and 5 from another place on our side of the state and all but one of his trees are completely bare.
