L & J Meat Market — Local services in Reeder Township

We ordered a 1/2 a pig and a 1/8 of cow. We was told it would take 2 weeks. 2 weeks went by and we got a call asking us if we wanted our ham smoked, we said yes. 3 weeks later with no phone call, we called them, they said they were busy with the fair in town. We told them it was Ok. 1 week later they finally called and our order was ready. About a week after that we decided to have ham for dinner, we tore everything out of the freezer with no ham. I immediately called them and told them we didn't get any of our hams. They said that we got ham steaks instead. I told them there was only 1 small ham steak in the whole bundle and then they actually told us that since it was a week ago that we picked it up they couldn't do anything about it. I read tons of good reviews and drove an hour both ways to pick up my bundles. The first problem was they shorted me 7 pounds of ground beef. The second issue is no matter how long I cook their cuts of meat they're super tough, the bacon is super salty and thick, the ribs have hardly any meat and the cuts I've cooked have all been super fatty.. seems they pack on as much fat for weight and price. I had a 3 almost 4 pound roast that I only got one pound of edible meat off of it. I will not be returning definitely not worth the $500 I paid and 2 hour drive. I'll try my luck at ebels next time. What a great experience at L & J Meat Market! We picked up some chicken wings and meat sticks, and the quality was fantastic – truly delicious. What impressed us just as much was the staff.
