What a fun adventure with kayak guides, Margo and Bailey. If you’ve never kayaked before, don’t be intimidated: they will explain everything. I get seasick very easily - and have gotten very seasick on our kayaks in a lake. These longer sea kayaks are designed for these waters and I noticed they minimized the rocking sensation from the waves. Despite an almost 3 hour kayak trip, I was not sea sick at all. (Three hours sounds like a long time and if you aren’t a kayaker, don’t worry that you won’t be able to make it. They show you how to paddle for max efficiency.) As self-taught kayakers, we enjoyed learning more from their explanations. Felt very safe with their gear and equipment. We had never used a tandem kayak with a steering rudder but we quickly got the hang of it. Views are spectacular and we were grateful for a lovely sunny day. Weather was rainy with strong winds and currents the next day and our tour was appropriately canceled. At low tide, you will see purple starfish clinging to the rock walls. We saw puffin, otters and many other birds. No orcas swam past us, but we did see them the next day swimming just past where we had kayaked. I highly recommend asking for the neoprene “mittens” that velcro to the paddle. Definitely bring a water proof phone case on a lanyard and a bottle of water. And, if Margo offers the chocolate chip cookie ball snacks, take one! Thanks to both of our knowledgeable and expert guides - you were soon fun to kayak with! Thanks also for...
