Jones Country Meats — Local services in Reno

Very small store, but you can get almost anything needed or wanted. The man who waited on us was all business at first. He was rude to my husband at first cause he was giving the man all the orders together. We kinda felt like it was "you better know what you need, rushed to place the orders and let's do this as individual orders, which did work out." We had 3 large orders of bacon and sausage so they were placed as 3 orders instead of one. I got some bologna which is sooo delicious , I wish I'd bought more. There was an older gentleman who was very kind and began a conversation with my husband, which calmed him down. Our order was quite large and as time went on the man taking the order became less harsh with his tone. I believe it is family owned for more than 40 yrs. All the other employees were very friendly. Other than that, the meat is the freshest and of top quality. They do carry many products like sauces, jellies, pickles, veggies and frozen items. We will return to purchase again, this time we know the process and we're also given a price list (by a young man who was also extremely pleasant and kind) to call and order a few days ahead of time, so all we have to do is pay and pick up. I had a pig processed at Jones It was my first pig I've ever had taken to the butcher shop. The wait to get her an appointment to be processed was not very long especially compared to other places in the area. They did an excellent job explaining the different cuts to me and what I would be getting. They called me the day before to confirm everything and again when the meat was ready to be picked up.

The meat was well packaged and the cuts I've opened so far are very nice. It is the best pork I have ever had, but I'm not sure if that is because she was raised on my homestead or the work that Jones performed. Probably a combination of both. They are the closest place to me that has a smoker and the sausage turned out delicious.

The only downside is that they forgot my pork rinds and lard, but they are holding it for me to go back and pick it up when I can. I live about an hour away so that is a little inconvenient. They did offer a refund, but I'd rather have those items. There were so many bags and a big box so I thought they might be inside the box and I didn't notice until I unboxed everything at home.

We brought a well finished steer into Jones Country Meats for processing several weeks ago. We couldn’t be any happier with the work that they did for us. The facility was clean, everyone there was professional and they handled the entire task just as we had requested. All of the cuts and packaging were exactly as we requested. At pick up, when I arrived they had everything packed neatly in boxes and helped loading it into my truck. From start to finish these folks were fantastic.
