McCool’s Auto and Diesel — Local services in Rensselaer

After working around Chicago for year. I was finally getting to head back home to SC, when my brakes decided to go out on me. It was a Saturday afternoon and called a few other places around. No one picked up and the ones that did wouldn't be able to see me until Monday morning. Well then I found McCool's Auto. Jason's Wife answered the phone and told me to bring my truck right in and they'll check it out. At first sight Jason thought it would be a simple fix but as he investigated more there was more to it, than originally thought. But Jason and his helper worked hard on getting me back on the road. Fortunately the auto parts store had all the parts that was needed, and they were able to get the job done and got me back on my way. But I've been to quite a few Auto Shops around the nation as I travel for work and can honestly say this is the best I've been to by far. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I came down from Chicago to Brook to take a look at this Ford Ranger I was really interested in. I called McCool's a week ahead of time to see if they could do a quick check on the truck. I came a few days later than I wanted but Jason was still able to give the truck a quick look around. Turns out the truck needed a lot more work than the dealership led me to believe which was a waste of a 1:45hr trip. He explained to me what it was wrong and why it was a problem. He gave me a rough estimate as far as what it would cost to repair it for road safety. He saved me a lot of time and money and I had much better leverage when heading back to the dealership. Ultimately, I did not buy the truck due to the gross upcharge, but they did lower the price significantly closer to what Jason believed the truck was worth. It was nice knowing that there's still good shops and unbiased mechanics like Jason still helping people out. We can’t say enough about the kindness and top-notch service we received today at McCool’s. Our family was headed from Chicago to IU for a family weekend with our daughter when the bottom piece of our vehicle broke and was hanging off the car. We managed to find McCool’s on the map just a few minutes away and despite the holiday weekend, they were open. My husband spoke to the owner who went above and beyond in getting our vehicle in promptly, doing the repair and sending us on our way.
